Nah, it’s not you. It’s the reaction to Nils f***ing Frahm being considered as noise. What… Is Tragic Magic a techno album too now?!

Cleansing the thread of silliness 🖤

750/1 x

Nanosecond confirmation-gate

Long song meltdown

What a ride this confirmations thread has been.

And it's not even over yet as we may (or may not) have a veto. Watch this space for confirmation either way!

One person's noise is another person's noise, and another person's noise though.

I thought colm was trying to guage what the people that have identified said "walls of noise", would interpret as one. I am one who has been able to identify some tracks sent to this contest as such, so I answered the question. I could be mistaken though, I dunno, it's difficult to guage the meaning behind text...

750/1 x

The disclaimer is there for a reason. Skall finishing 1st and yourself being 8th. Usually if I don't get the song, it does well (or if I don't like it, which usually means I'll struggle to see where the appeal - and therefore votes - lies anyway).

Though at this point, 750/1 is really reserved for the song which I believe will probably win, but I know I'm never going to understand why (whether I like it or not)!

I didn't mind the Skall entry, it definitely wasn't my cup of tea but it did grow on me a little (as most songs did), but I thought it was a bit too subtle to garner the mass 18's that I thought were reserved for Elëdan.

Though keep doing what you're doing! I'm not trying to deter anyone from sending the music they love, some will be for me and some won't. I have a habit of being vocal about things when I'm hooked on something (like this contest right now). Plus, one day lightning might strike and I might love an Elëdan entry, and it would be great if that happened because that's one more great track to take away from this... Who knows?

A glossing over of the list and I’d hazard a guess there will be at least 3 vetoes still to come so please, for the sake of Harve getting this contest off the ground as much as anything, if you think your entry seems a bit borderline - please have another entry ready to go.

daine - Love Love (Love Love) 13

- entered once before, in CXLVII, failing to qualify. 3

- song was triple confirmed, artist quadruple confirmed. 10

- featured on Stereogum, among other lesser known blogs.

- appears in 2 personal charts (RobBot, DJ Cheeky Magpie).

I have contacted the entrant who won the infamous same-second confirmation which it turns out was an all for nothing photofinish anyway.

the mods are cutting their hearts out i fear

Sounds fair for any artist quadruple confirmed. Although I've never heard the song.

It's on OBSESSED and All New Pop though ofc. I still think the framework should have some points attached to OBSESSED personally in the next update, I feel it's very relevant to 2026 entry sourcing in terms of many people hearing the same stuff and songs therefore having a headstart on recognition.

Its a very good song though, it reminds me of Sky Ferreira and Zowie (an artist I came 2nd with a very long time ago). Very early 10s vibe to it.

Song of the summer btw! 🖤

This song was my original confirmation! wub

I think 'Love Love (Love Love)' would've performed better but 'PQC' was more up my street, so stayed true to that.

The 10 veto points are only for the song though, so maybe Jade was still a matter of milliseconds away from getting 'PQC' through regardless of the triple confirmation of the other song (similar to what happened with Oklou last year).

Yeah, it would’ve been an interesting one if Jade had won that battle by milliseconds. As we’d have been sitting in a world where her artist was quadruple confirmed but her song was only confirmed once. So I may have even been tempted to let it through but it’d be touch and go.

Something I’ve been thinking about for a while so I’ll start sketching up some potential framework changes. I find it really hard to know how to police/point attribute streaming playlists but I do think it’s a change that needs to be made to keep up with current entry sourcing.

Maybe 'prominent playlists with over 200,000 followers', which would cover those two and the popular Planet Rave, for example, which I believe is well used for sourcing, and All New Indie (not sure if there are alt bloc alternatives!).

I do believe it gives an inbuilt advantage when lots of people are using the same playlist sources that have only a few new songs added each month/contest cycle, which is how I presume so many people come across the same stuff that on the surface feels obscure.

Having said that, even if you just gave 'prominent playlist inclusion' something like 5-7 points for example, a song would have to still fall foul in other ways like multiple confirmations, appearing in loads of charts, online hype etc. 5-7 points would never be enough alone.

i would be highly against including new music friday playlists though since that’s like the basis of new music plus they change their stuff every week anyway
