Wednesday at 05:092 days idk if I have much to contribute to this length discourse considering my longest entry here stops just shy of 5 minutes, but I would be naive to deny that there has been a recent trend of songs lasting longer than 6 minutes mopping up medal positions and reaching the top 10 (even top 5 in some cases) and that’s where the memes/jokes/criticism is coming from. But hey, if they seem to like it and if that’s what grabs people these days then who am I to deny them of their fun 😅 and if it’s good and justifies its length then I’ll throw it a few points but that’s my prerogative and not yours. I do agree it gets to a point however, like why are we sending whole ass mixtapes & EPs here…I feel like all of this started bc people were joking around about sending stuff that’s egregiously long for the hell of it and idk I just think we’re doing too much and reacting too hard about a scenario we know isn’t likely happening
Wednesday at 05:202 days anyway in other probably frequently as frustrating news, I’m switching againstill old school Porter vibes but with a bit of Frost Chidren, still likely a DNQ but this one feels more me
Wednesday at 07:492 days Last day to go! We’re at a rather healthy 58 - I do think there’s a fair chance of some vetoes coming today so don’t get comfy x
Wednesday at 08:272 days Reconfirmed, have found a really grabby song with an amazing video that I absolutely adored on first play (read: 25th in the semi).

Wednesday at 10:252 days I said I wanted to withdraw. I didn’t say anything about geting that person to change their entry. I love that they love that song and can enter it here.I saw people talking about an entry that seemed to be really long and as someone who likes to try to listen to everything in my semi before voting, I don’t think it’s fair for me to take part (why should I skip over it and not give it a fair chance if I’m partaking in the contest?)I don’t mind long songs (I’m a movie fan. Some of my favourite scores are long too.) but when I’m in a contest, I enter for a bit of escapism, fun and to discover some new stuff. When I have 30+ other songs to listen to, have a deadline to meet on top of a full time job, for which I usually balance moderately well, it starts feeling like it’s a bit of a chore/less enjoyable for me, on a personal level.I asked to withdraw because ofc I don’t know whether what they’re saying is true/being exaggerated and wanted to get some clarification from those that do know what has been entered etc.. so I can get on top of it, remove myself before the semi finals open and I’m not wasting a spot so the contest is as fair as possible. It’s not me asking for them to remove their song. I approached it wrong and should’ve messaged instead of a post on here, but reading the thread and getting swept up in the hype/hysteria of the talk of that entry obviously played a bigger part.Sorry for the inconvenience.

Wednesday at 11:152 days I do totally get where Tafty’s coming from. I’m a perfectionist and I’ll want to listen to every song in my semi at least three times in full. Others might only listen once and skip it after a few minutes once they realise it isn’t for them and that’s fine, but I can’t do that.I might well love the long song but it’s adding 1.5 hours to my listening workload if I stick to my usual approach. It’s actually fine for me as it’s generally easy enough to listen while working, but it’s certainly not unreasonable for someone to raise that as a PRACTICAL rather than an artistic concern. I think as long as huge songs are very much the exception it’s probably OK though, and I wouldn’t be in favour of capping the entry length.
Wednesday at 11:562 days I've always listened to everything in full at least once, in every contest I've ever entered on BuzzJack. You just never know where a song is going to go, if something will grow or get better as it goes along. And it feels fair to the poster who has submitted it.But I certainly did struggle with some of our entries over half an hour long, and personally would wonder if it's fair that I'm asking for 10 times more of a voter's time investment than a typical three minute pop entry, as many voters will want to listen to everything in full or multiple times. I don't mind them on a personal level though, as Julian says they can go on in the background, but I'm not going to be giving something my full focus for 40 minutes. My longest was just over 13 minutes (Gebroken Spiegels) and I felt ok about it as it was a rock and classical track with sections that veered all over the place, but I'm not sure I'd go over that unless the song was absolutely extraordinary and full of twists and turns. Although it seems lots of people skip through them anyway so maybe no need to worry and just let their target audience enjoy them.I suppose if we started getting loads and loads of long songs (which is rare, there are often not more than two or three per semi) then I would have to start cutting stuff off after 15 minutes. But I don't see it becoming a trend.
Wednesday at 12:352 days I've read the entire discussion now, I'll just add that I'm also one of those contestants here who always feels the need to listen to everything in its entirety - not necessarily more than once though, these days I usually only give one listen to the songs I can't see myself voting for. That said, after reading some of the posts I might tweak my approach slightly, and try not to feel too bad if I do end up skipping parts of a song that I know I'm not gonna vote for (sometimes the amount of songs can get overwhelming indeed). I'm still not gonna do that too liberally though as my personal preference would be to give everything a full listen at least once. But I'm just saying I might start using it as an occasional option haha.
Wednesday at 12:492 days When listening to the Spotify playlist mainly I do try to give each song a fair chance, by this I mean I play at least half way each time, If I am able to that is. If I can sense I won't be pointing this I will just skip and move on to the next one, life is too short to try and worry about that kind of stuff. I will say if it is a longer piece of music the whole waiting until half way becomes more case by case, if I can sense it "goes somewhere" I will try for the half way point but if I am not sending a vibe I will fast forward multiple times in the song to see if the vibe changes. Most people won't get my logic but its logic I understand it works for me.
Wednesday at 13:412 days Author We have two vetoes (so far!). The culprits have been informed.Rêve - Devour 17- entered three times previously, in CLXI (13th), CXLII (5th) and CLXVI (4th). 5+12- appears in 2 personal charts (Uhsting and RobBot).- was discussed in Colm's Spolidifestivalen thread as his potential, with several members commenting that they thought it may be a veto, alongside Leww posting "I confirmed a song and I did not send Reve - Devour" in the confirmations thread, would indicate a decent level of being known amongst BJSC members.Brutalismus 3000, Boys Noize - I Bring My Gun To The Function 25- Brutalismus 3000 came 9th in BJSC 155 3+7- Boys Noize came 24th in BJSC 113, 12th in BJSC 140, 5th in BJSC 147, 31st in BJSC 159 and won Buzzfestivalen 2025 3+12- low to mid level blog coverage- previously vetoed in BJSC 185.
