16 hours ago16 hr 20 pages and counting now.Not just a long song discussion then but a long thread. I guess someone just joining us will skip the first 19 pages to get here.
16 hours ago16 hr In the spirit of disclosure, I might as well state outright which countries' entries I never listen to out of choice. Just so you know....Zantimony, or whatever it's called. You can literally hear everyone's eyes rolling during the listen throughs.Ronseal KFC - like, WTF? No wonder they don't qualify any more.So-predictable-asma - the Sovarasma curse is so bad they managed to NQ a song that won dozens of other online contests.
15 hours ago15 hr I will start catching up properly from page 15 onwards now. Won't be skipping any posts hehe xo

15 hours ago15 hr The way my song is one of the shorter songsNot the length of the two longest songs, i will try and give them a chance though
15 hours ago15 hr In all seriousness, if - because of said long songs - the semis are balanced by runtime (presumably by short [more likely to be pop] songs padding out the semi the longest [more likely to be alt] song is in, and more of the shorter longer [still more likely to be non-pop] songs being grouped together), surely that could put the longest song at a disadvantage (as it appears long song senders would be more likely to be long song voters)?I'd much rather it was fully randomised with maybe any longer than 10 mins placed at the end of their allocated semi for listen through purposes... We can all approach the long songs (or indeed short songs) in whichever way we want, after all.
15 hours ago15 hr I'd split the songs between the semis in submission order: 1st submitted to SF1, 2nd to SF2, 3rd to SF1, 4th to SF2, and so on.
15 hours ago15 hr After 10+ years of toying with the idea, I ended up sending one of my fave songs ever. The short version though... maybe it was a mistake? 🥲 My expectations are not too high, but a Q would be super nice, please.

And really even if I didn't do that then anybody can listen to them in any order they want, including for the listenthrough.I just allocated semis by randomising the spreadsheet of entries without visibility on the song lengths except the very long one which I recognised by name. As you say, balancing by runtime might create a genre inbalance because it will take 10+ over the shorter songs (which are more likely to be pop) just to compensate for the 37 minute one, leaving the moderately long ones of 5-7 minutes in the other semi together. I think that's a recipe for dissatisfaction.
15 hours ago15 hr Author We have another veto. 14 hours ago14 hr Let’s see if I get drawn into the Semi 2 for the 10th time in a row. The odds of that were 1/1024 last August. Now they’ve dramatically increased to 1/2 x
