Presumably Dolly has a pretty good chance of the official #1 next week with “Rein Me In” more likely than not going to ACR and nothing else doing more than 30k.

I can actually see Dolly sticking around a little bit in this streaming age, she’s one of the biggest names I can think of dying in a long time and I don’t imagine she was starting from nothing in the first place, given 9 to 5 and Jolene are already classics that I can imagine getting a decent daily total prior to her death.

I’d be curious to what streams are like for Dolly’s “Greatest Hits” album

If Dolly can genuinely challenge for number one that would be great, one of the greatest country artists overtaking some rubbish examples of the genre would be much appreciated.

Ngl it would be lowkey iconic if 'Choosin' Texas' was lining up to finally hit #1 and was denied it because of Dolly Parton dying. I do think Dolly will hold up fairly well (maybe similar to Ozzy Osbourne but a bit higher), not sure if an official #1 may still be a bit of a stretch but I guess if it's going to happen it would be next week when sales for the #1 look set to be the lowest for years...

Yeah i think the crutch with IWALY is the general public associate that with the late great Whitney Houston, so it being her 4th most streamed is still a phenomenal result

I wish the OCC would relax their 3 track cap as it is so frustrating in cases like this that songs people are connecting with don’t get a chance to chart.

Such an iconic artist so I am glad she is getting a lot of love. Wouldn’t be surprised based on the Apple performance so far if we do see some Dolly make the top 40 on Friday, given the low sales climate we’re currently in.

The universe not wanting this version to chart once again! I learned from the TOTP Story of 1993 documentary that Dolly’s ‘I Will Always Love You’ was originally going to be used for the Volkswagen advert that sent ‘Young At Heart’ by The Bluebells to #1, but Whitney’s version becoming so successful changed those plans and paved the way for that chart-topping switch instead.

Spotify artists chart, i imagine she’ll challenge for #1 tomorrow

Tina was at number 38 on the artist chart the day her death was announced, hard to track Ozzy but Sabbath was at 54 and he was at at 74 solo so Dolly surely coming for a massive impact.

Much rather Dolly's original and by far the best 'I Will Always Love You' to chart. Ahead of that awful screeching Whitney version.

That Glastonbury performance was so iconic and (re)introduced her and the music to so many new people who may have only knew her for the celebrity/persona.

My 10 year nephew and his friends at the loved the blue smoke album (both the original cd and the greatest hits second disc). they only knew Dolly from Hannah Montana / being Miley Cyrus’ aunt and become lifelong fans ever since.

Love Whitney but Dolly’s original is definitely superior. Hers is so delicate and bittersweet whereas Whitney’s is very bull in a china shop-esque

So happy to see such a big impact on Apple Music. Hopefully the Spotify impact is even bigger.

Really sad the 3 track rule is going to stop a lot of her songs getting new peaks or charting for the first time though.
