As long as it's not Sienna Spiro returning to the top until Christmas.

The release schedule is very loaded right into late November this year so I doubt that’ll happen.

  • The Taylor thing is really ridiculous. She may as well just have sent out 10k physicals a week for four weeks and have a nice extra extended con, I mean, run at the top.

  • If she shipped all the physicals in the same week and actually shipped them the week they were advertised to be shipping on I definitely wouldn't be as frustrated.

  • Taylor ratf***ing across multiple weeks would tend to do that yes xx

The Taylor situation seems to be of zero concern to the OCC, record labels, media or industry panel as there is no noise coming from any of them regarding shipping across multiple weeks or a need for change so it seems like it’s only a Buzzjack problem.

Rein in In being number one for 10 years didn't bother them, I doubt this will. Its a big artist at number 1. Its good for the OCC

OCC website has belatedly updated - new entries/peaks outside T40:

#41 Digga - Girls All Around the World

#42 Chase & Status - Carnage

#43 Olivia Rodrigo - Expectations

#63 Kingfishr - The Sun Will Never Settle

#64 Imael Angel - Bad Times

#69 Season 25 - Shotta's.

#70 Sonny Kane - Never Leave U

#72 Slayyyter - I Think He's Got A Girl

#89 Harry Styles - Coming Up Roses

‘The Chain’ not only back in, but above ‘Everywhere’ and kicking out ‘Landslide’ by the 3 track rule for Fleetwood Mac.

For a group who started in the 60s to frequently have tracks starred out in the top 100 is phenomenal. I don’t think any other retro acts have achieved this in anything other than the short term (e.g. Michael Jackson, Oasis and Dolly Parton have achieved this for short periods).

Ok so that makes it ok then!

I dunno man I just think it’s just like either:

  1. She distributes her physical copies evenly or and maintains a steady chart position and gets this scrutiny.

  2. She distributes all of her physical copies in one go getting a high week 1 sale which will also face scrutiny.

  3. If following point number 2, and hypothetically if ahead had a drop like 1-4 she’d be called a flop artist on decline disregarding the sales previously made.

The girl can’t win here regardless basically, especially when people once again disregard that it’s down to the sales/marketing team even if she does have a say which we don’t know for sure. Plus if it was another artist, I don’t think they’d face the same aggro.

Don’t think I said that makes it ok or referred to my personal thoughts on it either 🤷🏻‍♂️

The key word being “as” frustrated yes?

Nice to see slayyyyer in the top 100, hope it holds for her! I also have a feeling expectations will get into the top 40 as there is renewed demand as there’s a chappell roan remix apparently out on Friday

That’s her face and name, it’s fair to assume she signed off on it in one way or another.

I didn’t know that some artists do this shenanigans. US artists continue drilling to the bottom of hell and will probably inspire others to do the same. Streaming numbers are already full of fake plays by bots, paid by artists themselves, now they have discovered ways to backdate and ration physical sales.

This world is well and truly done.

Don't need a Chappell Roan remix as the song is good as it is. When Noah Kahan can have sleeper hits why not Olivia Rodrigo?

The first Pet Shop Boys album to potentially miss the UK Top 10 is disappointing, falling short of the standards I’ve come to expect from them. I also wish they were more open to constructive criticism rather than blocking people on Instagram.

Its not really a Pet Shop Boys album. Its Tennant/Lowe. They've done it before with a few releases that are off the cuff

C’mon Olivia/Chappell! You wait decades for a top 40 hit with ‘expectation’ in the title to exist and then suddenly two potential #1s come along in the same year, following Sienna.

Absolutely hyped for that!! Great to see one of the better songs on the album getting such a big push!

Babydoll is gonna p!ss me off during its non-consecutive 27 weeks at #1.

At least it's something different* though even if it could have come out in about 1981.

I miss dance, drill and grime songs getting to #1.

Why the funk do I even still follow the chart?

37-year-old habits are hard to break, I guess.

*I say 'different' even though it's the same rhythm and around the same bpm as Rein Me In.

RMI is as dull as fcuk though and I say that as a Sam Fender fan, at least this is quite uplifting and sounds like a chart-topper I guess.

I can't think of a way to make the charts more interesting and exciting in this day and age other than going hyper-ACR and/or somehow STOPPING BORING B@STARDS FROM LISTENING TO THE SAME SONGS OVER AND OVER AGAIN months after your average Buzzjacker gets intensely bored of them.

I mean after about 6-8 weeks of hearing a song I like or even love I do feel like I need a long break from it so I can enjoy it all over again with fresh ears, but maybe that's just me!

Or perhaps it's just that when one cohort of listeners (i.e. us cool pop kids who are onto stuff from day one) are getting bored of a song, another one is just getting into it (casual listeners) and when they tire of it another 'demographic' (people who are barely even arsed about music but like something a bit catchy and familiar to soundtrack whatever the feck they're doing is) picks it up.

And that's what makes the streaming-era charts so sh!t, slow and boring!

Whilst looking through the charts in order to vote for ‘Record of the Decade’ I realise that for several years I went off chart music completely. It seemed that almost every new entry was rap (or drill or grime) or another genre that I didn’t enjoy.

I do feel it would be great to see some more dance music in the charts, but most of the dance music around at present doesn’t inspire me.

But I am back enjoying the charts again, now that I feel a lot of ‘pop’ music is doing well again.
