I missed the listenthroughs too but giving this a go on shuffle now and wow, some really varied and interesting sangs!!

Fun fact: Much of the prep for this contest is being done by me PMing myself lol. PMing myself the leaderboard after every set of votes at least. Then I can copypaste it from my PM thread with myself and the formatting will stay exactly the same in the post.

Unfun fact: Just one poor song remains on zero and it's one that actually grew on me more on the listenthrough so I hope it gets some points soon.

You're not the only one who does it that way. I also PM myself with the scoreboards when I'm hosting a contest.

I set the deadline for tomorrow, Sunday 25th at 23:59, so do try to get your votes in soon, but I can extend it if needed. Also looks like the Halloween spin-off listenthrough will be on Monday so I probably wouldn't do results that evening anyway.

Votes submitted. Fortunately my top pointer was reasonably ahead of the pack so I was quite happy to give it the 20 although on other occasions my vote has been closer.

Really strong competition this time, I love my top five and really enjoyed at least half of these. Really good diversity too, my original vetoed entry wouldn't have sounded out of place at all imo? There was plenty of dance/electronic in here and I even submitted a live band performance version to take it further out of the dance genre too. However, the song I sent is one of my favourites of the year so hopefully will have some fans, but it is quite subtle in this pack.

For sure there is, I submitted a live brass band performance of a dance song originally but it was vetoed. At the time it felt fair to me, but less so having heard some of the stuff that made it in!!

Sometime we should do a contest of songs that have been vetoed haha, maybe in the BJSC spin-off forum but it could encompass songs from all contests on the site

True. Some of the Best of Buzzjack type spin-offs/PFSC best of the year featured many of these! But it could be a good mop up exercise.

I’ve only ever been vetoed once, and that was on a dance/electronic edition because It felt for them that the song was more suited to the indie forum.

Then I come to the indie forum and see all sorts of music and electronics here...

i feel like industry definitions or associations are used more often than not when deciding what falls under the purview of which forum tbh. I tried to send hard by fka twigs to pfsc earlier this year but apparently it was too alt and I was like ???? that’s a pop song through and through to me!

edit: only to then find out she was a previously used artist in pop factor! It’s not a big deal it just makes no sense to me
