  1. Probably 1BF but I’d be open to an old school contest with a smaller final of 32 and 15 Qs per semi. But I think the format rules make everything under 50 1BF by default. BJSC folks, heart react for semis and thumbs up for one big final! EDIT - There is no difference in how long both options take as 1BFs have a longer voting period
  2. Up to forty entrants. I quite fancy ‘winning a day’ soon so I may do one of those react to my post polls that Silas did last time around to decide between one big final and semis 🤭 Press 👍 for semis React ❤️ for one big final Go for me to just choose people to eliminate without semis Finally 😮 to make Silas and Cody fist fight it out to gain entry to the final
  3. Massive congratulations to @Scene on the win, you played the game so brilliantly with Avril and although you had me sweating thinking Avril was done over with that choice at the end there, she pulled through I'll be in touch with you soon with the prize!! @King Rollo also deserves a heap of praise for Pet Shop Boys getting to second place! I wouldn't have called that at the beginning, and (unlike a-ha ) I've had some great discoveries over the rounds with their music when I otherwise wouldn't really give them the time of day. @Addy! did brilliantly with Christina too and managed to recover well with some choices that saw him in danger. And I'm ngl I was kinda rooting against Xtina in the final to save having to worry about how to convert the prize into USD for you !!! I honestly really didn't expect there to be so much interest in this or for it to take off the way it has, so thank you so much to everybody for all of your involvement, enthusiasm and support. @Tafty has been an amazing support of everything to do with this behind the scenes, and has so many great ideas for where we can take it from here. Besides those already tagged, @Jack @JosephBoone @Bjork @Ansel @Herbs @Last Dreamer @AllStarBySmashMouth @Spiceboy @Brer @HarryGarfield @seven. @Lukuzz @Dj Cheeky magpie @Jade @-Jay- @Mangø @awardinary @jimwatts @vibe - thank you for bringing everything to this, being such amazing sports throughout all the rounds, introducing everybody to some amazing music, and having the best time! And for all your kind words throughout. Happy to be bringing something that gives everyone else fun and joy on here! And thank you to everybody else who showed their support by voting in all the rounds, and all of the guest judges for playing along with the roles - @dandy* @Big Fat Sue @Josh! @Julian_ @danG @gooddelta @AaronTM @elgornio @Paddington James @Snazzy @Viper* @Rogue and @RobBot! I'll leave you all with one last thing... 👀
  4. Hi all, inspired by The Chain going 5x platinum the other week and the questions surrounding it, I have compiled a full list of every song that has received a platinum disc despite never hitting the top 40! There's easily over 300 here so there will likely be some errors. All arranged by the date they achieved their highest certification. Any mistakes please let me know. Enjoy reading 😁 5x Platinum (3) Bryan Adams- Summer Of '69 [42] (15/11/2024) Fleetwood Mac- The Chain [76] (28/03/2025) Imagine Dragons- Believer [42] (11/07/2025) 4x Platinum (3) Van Morrison- Brown Eyed Girl [60] (31/01/2025) Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell- Ain't No Mountain High Enough [80] (31/01/2025) The Beatles- Here Comes The Sun [58] (25/07/2025) 3x Platinum (18) Two Door Cinema Club- What You Know [64] (19/01/2024) The Neighbourhood- Sweater Weather [49] (26/01/2024) Dolly Parton- 9 To 5 [47] (16/02/2024) Billie Eilish & Khalid- Lovely [47] (23/02/2024) J. Fairly sure I got them all!
  5. Side note: for the 2nd semi-final there has been some demand to include songs that were certified platinum after round 1 closed and semi final 1 started. There are two songs that have done this: to make things fair, I would like you to vote on which track you want to include as a wildcard in the 2nd semi-final. If you want Alphaville's "Forever Young" as a wildcard, react to this post with a like/👍 If you want Bob Marley & The Wailers' "Redemption Song" as a wildcard, react to this post with a heart/❤️ The song with more reactions by 11:30 BST on 7th July gets added into the 2nd semi-final's pool of songs!
  6. I'll ask down my local tonight why ordinary streams are down
  7. ACR rules is a hot topic of discussion down the local pubs clearly
  8. I've said this before and I'll say it again, the "mockery" of people is rarely to do with the core point. We can all agree, when I responded to the "Manchild tanking" calls last week, that Liam was correct that Manchild WAS declining, that it seemed likely it wouldn't be #1 because of this, and it looked likely to continue declining. The same can be said of Dior this week, Liam is again correct - it's down 60k/70k on last week, that bodes badly for it making #1 on its best opportunity yet. The mockery of members in here is often because people make "click bait", reactionary statements akin to The Sun newspaper headlines you see on Facebook. People are forever describing things as "dropping off a cliff", "catastrophic falls", "distastrous debuts" etc, whether it be Ed, Chappell, Sabrina etc this year alone. These threads would be so much better to read if people had levelled conversations and mature discussions that weren't so full of exaggeration and intensified negativity, because it's clear most of you are passionate about the charts, you're clued up about what's going on and you're able to notice patterns in statistics etc.
  9. Massive congratulatons to @dandy* An absolutely STORMING victory. I think the margain of the win should go some way to explain why I thought this might be a good contest to test out an alternative vote reveal on, FLJ took the reins early and just galloped away. So we decided to flip the script on the reveal to keep the interest going and try to somewhat conceal the margain of victory by not including a scoreboard along the way Thanks to all of you who joined us in Morpeth Cove this month, it was a pleasure to have all 47 of you with us. We hope you have enjoyed BJSC 176, enjoyed a slightly different final reveal, and also a big massive thank you to all who enjoyed our hosts entry this month! Bit different from Rd'Á this month and nice to see us in some different countries votes as well. Thanks and Goodnight! This has been a SNÁ|1 production
  10. Mothertopia Nationals getting ready for landing
  11. Now that I’m fully rested, once again I just want to thank everyone <3 I will host next edition, even though my schedule is a mess but I’ll make it work. I am blanking to come up with something fresh theme wise, because of time constraints etc. etc. so most probably will just recycle my theme (sorry, I know it’s overdone) but those boarding passes are ready to be printed
  12. POPHub’s passengers have rather enjoyed the delay as we stuck Scotland 2’s playlist on to keep them entertained. Just coming to the end of track 3 now
  13. Also, the worst thing about hosting was that I hated repeatedly having to type out every country with an accent, an umlaut, or anything else in it. You all made my life hard!!! I know copy/paste exists but sometimes I just want to bash out a country name quickly with my own two hands and that's where I appreciated the likes of Skall, FARC, and Oslol x
  14. Even if most of my votes ended up bottom half, I cannot complain at that winner considering I gave it the 18! It was exciting to host and be the deciding vote even if I feel awful for blacksquare as they've been sooooo much help throughout the process. I really appreciate everything you've done to help @blacksquare and I hope you can forgive me 🤣😝 Erika Jayne outdid my expectations because I was expecting dead last. Maybe she'd have even qualified after all in a traditional semi final?! I thought it'd pick up a few votes from pure pop voters but some of those abandoned me and it got some surprise votes from the likes of Klum Rep, Scotland 2 and Eledan which I wasn't expecting! It's been fun to host but also super stressful, haha. I don't know how poor Lew does it every few months 🤣 It was very intriguing to see how votes come in and change things as they go on. For example, I couldn't believe how long it took FSR Rontvia to get points during the semis when I thought it was such an immediate standout. Sorry I couldn't keep up the movie theme for the finale but I promised I'd have results done by 10pm and I kept my promise !!!! Thanks for all the nice comments throughout my hosting experience x
  15. Not Ed "underperforming" before the Spotify update even comes in. Take a day off y'all x
  16. This happens EVERY tme there’s a big new telease. You have all been here long enough to notice patterns in new releases and how they debut high then fall around a similar percent the following day/continue “decreasing” on Sundays too (Monday’s update). In rare circumstances will you find a ‘driver’s license’ or ‘APT’ where they actually increase their streams the entire/most of the week. Even then they don’t debut at number 1/top 5… Every time there’s a big release you all have the same conversations over and over and over again. It’s boring and whenever anyone points it out that it’s a decent hold/expected drop, there’ll be someone trying to downplay it in one way or another. None of you can let even the first weekends go by without making these silly comparisons. It just feels like you’re all racing against each other so you can be the first to say “told you so!!!!” It’s just wash, rinse and repeat at this point. It’s boring.
  17. "Spinning Around" is now FINALLY certified Platinum in the UK! Only took 25 years! 🤣 @___∆___ @Padamic_Tension @aeroco @Delicate @SmileyKylie @Liam.k. @BREAKTHETENSION @Jessie Where @Spiceboy
  18. Just want to note that it's a fallacy to treat every single (even by major artists) as if they're written specifically to be instant #1 hits, especially if they just don't sound like it. To avoid the negatively associated buzzwords, sometimes they can just be made to show the range & potential of the album in question, and probably helps the bottom line a lot in the long run. Often times also these songs that appear to be coasting or underwhelming just don't fit the vibe of the top 40 but then go on to do really well after the fact. Here's a top 10 from 7 years ago, which song here do you think has the most streams on Spotify nowadays? Answer: it's the one spending its first and only week in the top 10
  19. Apparently Benson is releasing a new remix of Beautiful Things with Teddy Swims.
  20. Seeing Jade's fans disappointed that her new single hasn't been added to Hot Hits UK, made me interested to take a closer look at this impactful playlist. I wanted to find out to what extent it supports British artists, and the age of the songs included on it (i.e. how fresh is this playlist?). Of the 70 songs included, 20 of them are by UK artists (as the lead artist). That's 28.5% of the playlist. The newest UK artist song included is Sam Fender - 'Little Bit Closer', which came out 20th February (25 days ago). It's placed 60th out of 70 tracks. The oldest UK artist song included is technically Raye - 'Oscar Winning Tears.', from her February 2023 released album. However it became a single in November 2024. Currently in 64th position. Otherwise, the oldest song is BL3SS - 'Kisses', released on 22nd March 2024 (360 days ago). It's still as high as 32nd place. The average age of all the UK songs included is 26 weeks old (half a year). Although there's 20 songs, there's some repeat artists; there's 15 different artists. So this is the level of support currently being afforded to UK artists, in a playlist geared towards UK listeners. Just one song that has been released within the last 4 weeks: It should come as no surprise that there is more emphasis on the inclusion of USA artists in this playlist. 33 songs are USA artists as the lead artist, 47.1%. If we extend that to North America (so, including Canadian artists), it's 38 songs - 54.3%. There's relatively fresher songs included, with 9 of those 38 being released within the last month. The newest being Playboi Carti - 'RATHER LIE' (3 days) and Chappell Roan - 'The Giver' (4 days). These being the only songs added to the playlist this week ('The Giver' in 12th position, 'RATHER LIE' in 19th position). Should "the UK's biggest playlist" be doing more to support UK based artists? I really think they should be, and it fascinates me why they're not. I don't think it's ever been more difficult for UK artists to do well (or consistently well) in the UK singles chart, in this age of streaming. There could be a multitude of business related reasons why Spotify doesn't throw full support behind an artist such as Jade. It's a shame though, as well as frustrating and predictable, to realise that a new song is essentially dead on arrival because of Spotify's decision making. Also, the inevitably of knowing that the return of the Sugababes will get bare minimum support from Spotify, unlikely to ever be considered for inclusion on their top playlists, and therefore not chart. From my perspective, Spotify also doesn't do much to throw support behind new(ish) artists - and if they do, it's often because of TikTok virality that has dictated that songs such as Messy end up getting heavily supported. The girl group FLO seemed to struggle to get to the stage of releasing their debut album, after spending a lot of time chasing a hit single that never came... and it ultimately resulted in a frontloaded album spending 1 week in the Top 100 (peaking at #3). I would connect the phenomenon of frontloaded albums, to artists not being able to break the glass ceiling of what it takes to achieve a long-running album (high streaming support across multiple songs). Aside from the origin of the artists included, I have to wonder why this playlist is as stale as it is? Inclusions include: Nights Like This, Too Sweet, Kisses, Good Luck Babe, A Bar Song (Tipsy), I Had Some Help, Birds of a Feather, Apple, I Love You I'm Sorry, Somedays, Backbone, Diet Pepsi, Taste... what are they still doing here!! Hits for sure... but surely they've been and gone? No wonder the chart moves at a glacial pace and requires ACR to keep things artificially fresher looking. Anyway... I'm interested if any of you have thoughts about this playlist specifically!
  21. DEAD 😵 OMG thank you everyone, so pleased that Infohazard resonated with so many of you <3 Not gonna lie, I very nearly didn’t even enter this contest because I’d not done so for a couple and had a feeling that I’d fallen out of love with it a little… but I decided to persevere and I’m now so glad I did - not just because Ninajarichi won for us, but because I genuinely loved all of the songs in my votes - I added so many to my playlist this contest, it feels like it was meant to be and the contest and I just really clicked if that makes sense? Particularly happy to see Kath in second there, a win and my 18 in second spot is as good as it can get <3 (Oh and how rude of me, forgot to say a huge thank you to Phil for hosting… you did a great job 👏)
  22. Ease off the botox
  23. finally won something on this damn site 😭 thanks to the (21 of 25 !!) voters, especially those who gave medals 🥰
  24. Michelle mcmanus revival wasn't on my 2025 bingo card 😮
  25. Sabrina’s numbers falling off a cliff: 21 June: 464k 22 June: 408k 23 June: 442k 24 June: 426k 25 June: 448k 26 June: 437k 27 June: 443k Cliffs everywhere found unbothered.
  26. I’d go for the one that isn’t made up.
  27. OMG! I wasn’t expecting that. Thank you so much! I really loved this song but thought it would be another of my 10-15 finishes because it’s a bit more basic or standard and usually CB favours the quirky, but I’m really glad it’s resonated. St. Germain in 2nd spot is wonderful too as that’s one of my all-time fave songs (my first email address ever was inspired by the album it’s from haha). Thought the quality this edition was v good, well done everyone!
  28. No if you disagree with my love for passion fruit then that does not make you far right but there is obviously a context here. Some people just don't care about politics, or do care about politics but don't want it in Eurovision. Those two groups are probably the backbone of the entire contest. But if you are encouraged to vote for a country because you don't like that people are upset about the genocide that said country is carrying out then that is a political reaction. It's perfectly plausible that the song itself has legitimate fans (I loved Israel's 2021 entry! Unfortunately I wouldn't be able to vote for it today for explicitly political motivations), but other posts have explained why this doesn't explain its high score.
  29. Blaming the pro Palestine movement and thinking political voting is the issue we are having with the contest is an extremely simplistic take that does not represent the reality. Should people you’re describing (including yourself I assume) look beyond their shallow bubble, they would realise a genocide is happening and Europe is ignoring it, with hypocritical EBU even promoting the aggressor after banning Russia immediately for the exact same reason. It’s an ethics issue but I guess this is not a priority for many people so yeah let’s blame people who oppose genocide instead, sounds logical and legit :’) Diaspora vote has never and will never affect the overall results on a grand scale, but no one is talking about that.
  30. Not the Debbii and Debby finale Thank you to everyone who voted for Debby this month — it really is my favourite entry in months, and one of my favourites of the year. So euphoric. Going from not qualifying with her as my first-ever entry to second place was beyond my expectations — happy to see it connect with people. I mentioned this in the other thread, but life has been lifing lately, and having this little community has brought such unanticipated levity. I don't think I've ever been more invested in theorising and predicting things — it's been a hoot 🖤 I would have loved to see a win for Scotland 2, I felt that win in my bones! So many gems in the top ten, although Jadu Heart, Blue Hawaii, and Litku Klemetti are criminally low Congrats to Addy and Josh for smashing the hosting (I'm glad I actually managed to help with spreadsheets for the first time in my life!) Ha, I'm less concerned about the results and more worried that there won’t be a Fljótavík entry next month
  31. I'm so happy to have made the final again!🤩 Especially now, because after my cheap ass entry got vetoed (although I didn't think it would be), I felt like I should send something inspired, but at the same time a bit of a risk. I just love "Not a Dream", that voice gives me the chills! I figured if I were to end my incredible Q streak record, I'd much rather do it with something special, so that I would still feel really good about what represented me. There have been too many entries in the past (although many years ago now) I admit where I sent something I liked, but not loved, and was probably more inclined to send it because I thought others would like it more than I personally did. And more often than not it didn't resonate with people. Go figure! These past few years, though, and especially from the year where I sent exclusively Japanese or Korean songs (2022), I've grown more confident in my own tastes. So, when I send something I truly appreciate, I do it with a sense of pride. Which means I keep my head held high if I DNQ, and if someone else really enjoys my entry too, it becomes so so so much more rewarding!

  33. I don't particularly like Carti but I see quite a bit of unnecessary hostility on here towards almost any rap song & artist that does well on the charts. If it was purely directed towards Carti I probably wouldn't have said anything lol
  34. Perrie • If He Wanted To He Would 50 VETO POINTS - member of Little Mix who have an artist forum 25 - artist had 3 UK chart hits in 2024, 1 of which made the top 40 & top 10 (highest position #10 for 'Forget About Us'); has had more chart success as a member of Little Mix (47 UK chart hits in 2011-2021, 32 of which made the top 40 and 19 of which made the top 10 (highest position #1 for 'Cannonball', 'Wings', 'Black Magic', 'Shout Out To My Ex' & 'Sweet Melody') + 7 UK top 10 albums in 2012-2021) plus a further UK #1 single as part of The X Factor Finalists 2011 ('Wishing On A Star' (feat. JLS and One Direction)) - is currently on the Capital playlist (also A-Listed on Radio 2) 25 - mid level blog coverage - has a thread in the Little Mix forum with 87 replies; is also currently in Calum's Pop Track of the Week poll The delegates from Fljótavík wish to congratulate this early attempt to score such a high points total in the contest. @Brer could we have a record breaker already in the contest or has 50 points been surpassed previously? 😲
  35. Maybe MK could release a Wedding Version of the song to secure a few more streams
  36. If I ever come across as an ardent Ed Sheeran stan, it's only because he attracts a certain backlash that is so asinine and deranged that any level-headed approach is going to look glowing in comparison (either because he's unfathomably successful, or so antithetical to certain music discussion circles that it's shooting fish in a barrel, or both). I'd just ignore it but to leave it all unopposed is to create the illusion of unchallenged approval. Otherwise I think an under-acknowledged aspect of the DSP wars is just how much exclusive use of one of them is going to re-shape the fundamentals of your own music taste. Normalising otherwise niche sounds, starving previously approved ones. It's a remarkably interesting aspect of national & global music consumption habits. I can't take anyone seriously who chooses to weaponise it to say 'x artist is overrepresented because y platform doesn't count'. It's always used as a detraction which just implies a self-centred approach that can't possibly comprehend people like different music to you, and are valid for doing so.
  37. Also props to Calum for putting together one of the most fun and engaging games on Buzzjack I've seen in forever!
  38. Getting maximum points is not necesssarily indicative of public opinion either. It's just that it's very easy for an entry like Israel's to be a lightningrod for the right wing bloc who have no reason to vote for any other entry, particularly if they are not actually interested in the contest as you admit, when the anti-Israel bloc - as well as those not interested in the political dimension which obviously is a huge number of people too - has their voting power split 25 (or 36) ways amongst everybody else. In a non-political sense getting maximum points doesn't suggest consensus - it's the reverse of the UK or Switzerland getting 0, which just means that they were few people's favourite when I doubt they were the most hated songs of many despite having the worst score. It would only explain majority opinion if there were two entries rather than 26, but with 26 you benefit from polarisation. If Israel had won it wouldn't have been a validation of public opinion regarding the song or the Palestinian genocide for that matter. It just confirms that there is a right wing voting bloc, which we already know. The existence of this bloc makes total sense when Israel sees the contest as a crucial tool to soften its image to the world and has invested so much into it/chosen blatent propaganda entries for the last two years.
  39. In terms of the Israel near-miss and destroying the contest forever: We were calcing live as you can work out how many votes are left to be dished out from the 2204 total point televote pool. So it got very scary when: - Estonia got a huge televote score but failed to overtake Israel. This then made it harder for everybody else to overtake. - Sweden's televote lowkey flopped but still took enough points out the pool to make it difficult for other nations to get a good enough score. 367 points up for grabs for the top 5 jury songs at that point - an Austria vs. Israel split screen felt locked in at that point. - Then Italy got an OK televote score, leaving just 228 points for the top 3 nations. If they were split broadly evenly between Austria, France and Switzerland then that's a disaster. Nothing against the entries, but for this purpose it was a relief that France only got 50 and Switzerland got 0, leaving Austria with more than enough to win. If we were to assume that Israel has a huge televote locked in then this is how an Israel win happens - there would be a bunched-up scoreboard, particularly with the jury vote, with the right side of the scoreboard still getting a respectable score. The bottom half got 466 jury points vs. 256 last year. But there's no guarantee that Israel would flop in the jury vote in the future and there's no point gaming these scenarios every year. Moral considerations for Eurovision - and more fundamentally in geopolitics - have been proven to be irrelevant but purely in the interests of self-preservation for the contest it's best for Israel to be gone. Finally, Azerbaijan's jury votes look suss - it's not necessarily the 12 to Israel, it's also that all the other entries considered favourites (Austria, Sweden, France) were completely snubbed which nobody else did.
  40. JETTY NELSON, the national airline of Baleghde, has started pre-boarding.
  41. 8 points
DARLING HOLD MY HAND 🫳Nothing beats a jet2 holiday! And right now, you can save £50 per person! That's £200 for a family of 4 😮
  42. Well done Addy! ABBA soundalikes are a tried and tested formula in this contest and I agree with those who said it felt like Debbii would get a win one of these days. Somewhere between gutted and selfishly relieved about Debby Friday but, obviously, as my 18, I’m thrilled to see that was as much of a hit as I thought it sounded from first listen. As for my finish? Weirdly, as soon as I saw Leww’s prediction of 14th, I did actually see that being spot on. Somewhat disappointing because I do think it’s far and away my strongest entry of the year but it was such a strong contest for pop, that there was always going to be underperformances. I always manage to find a way to creep a top 15 though, even if it’s by dodgy means of Pav’s votes not being sent properly 😂 This contest has really reinvigorated my love for the whole thing, it’s been so much fun, and really well hosted in its simplicity. So regardless of results, it’s still been a joy to be a part of x
  43. No, and I really appreciate that noone compared a song about the struggles of the LGBTQIA+ community of a country under dictatorship to a novelty entry, just because the two song titles are similar. I had to leave my home country for good at 37 because I was sick of not being able to live my true life. I didn't move for money or a better opportunity, I moved to be able to live a simple life that most people in Western Europe can take for granted. The song pretty much summarizes why I had to leave. 'Daddy Said No' is funny/silly, but somehow it always makes me sad and angry, yet I can't stop listening to it. In the end, I don't expect anyone to feel the way I feel when listening to this song, as thankfully most of you have grown up with a different level of acceptance around them. This is a song contest after all, you either like 'Daddy Said No' or not, it's all good. Thanks Everyone who joined SyncTube yesterday for... simply being a decent human being and not making a running joke of the entry that clearly means so much to me. ❤️
  44. Guess who randomly was like I will enter (can't promise I will consistently be entering but for now I just want to find my feet and do it for the fun of it)
  45. A DNQ is no barometer of the merit of a song anyway - Pink Pony Club is challenging for No.1 this week (yes I’m aware it had a deduction but clearly it would only have been like 15th in its semi anyway without one). I’ve had DNQs with some of my favourite songs I’ve ever sent but I agree that I have very few regrets with my entries - clearly I always loved them at the time. The Turkish song I went out with two contests ago is fantastic and charming - it’s no less a song because it didn’t make it into the final. I do like when some of the less conventional stuff makes it into the final on here - because several songs in this final would never have any chance whatsoever to cross into the mainstream, but that doesn’t mean they are not deserving of being heard and enjoyed, they just don’t suit commercial tastes.
