June 12, 20179 yr Author I think Imagine Dragons will be the ones to break this run of British #1 albums. Fingers crossed anyway. I'm unsure. The week they release will be when the Glastonbury effect will kick in and Ed Sheeran is headlining, so I think a return to #1 could be likely. Imagine Dragon's last album sold 26k in its first week and I think this one could debut a little lower or at least a similar amount. Given Ed is already selling in the mid-20ks, he could easily sell a lot more on top of that with the Glastonbury effect. Speaking of which, Radiohead are also headlining and release the anniversary edition of OK Computer that week - I can seem them too doing well, maybe not enough to be ahead of Imagine Dragons, but who knows?
June 12, 20179 yr The London Grammar album is horrific. Her voice is vile! I really don't understand the mass hype surrounding them. :puke:
June 12, 20179 yr The London Grammar album is horrific. Her voice is vile! I really don't understand the mass hype surrounding them. :puke: I think she has a haunting and mesmerising voice. :o Granted I don't actually even know a great deal about them though.
June 12, 20179 yr The London Grammar album is horrific. Her voice is vile! I really don't understand the mass hype surrounding them. :puke: I think it's one of the best albums of the year  it's received good reviews as well, but I can understand why it's not everyone's cup of tea
June 12, 20179 yr David guetta and Justin not instantly going top 2 what a flop for Justin Yay little mix extending the run of top 20 official singles Sad to see new miles will struggle to go top 100 but at least Malibu heading upwards
June 12, 20179 yr David guetta and Justin not instantly going top 2 what a flop for Justin  let's not forget Despacito debuting at #70 and taking a couple more weeks to go top 10 :magic:
June 12, 20179 yr Brilliant to see London Grammar on course for a comfortable #1  Probably to just be the latest band to have a slow burning high selling debut that doesn't get #1 then a faster selling #1 album with the follow-up that ends up with much lower overall sales though.
June 12, 20179 yr I obviously know this is a terrible result for Katy, but in her defense, she really isn't a fanbase act like 1D, Little Mix, Gaga or even Beyonce. She's the kind of act that the UK public react to hits/promo. If she'd released it off the back of Chained which was a big hit here or had come to the UK and done Graham Norton or BGT, I think she'd have been selling well. Her interest has evaporated a lot, no doubt but it really does feel slightly of a case of nobody knowing she's even released anything. I agree but she seems to have fallen out of favour with the British public - she got next to no boost for her singles and albums after the Manchester concert despite her having a prime slot.
June 12, 20179 yr Surely that drop in the album charts for All Time Low is a, err, all time low! Steps albums have swapped :(
June 12, 20179 yr Katy having her very own Christina Aguilera 'Bionic' era - the album is not half as bad as people are making out, not sure where 80% of her fan base seems to have evaporated to especially as she has already had 3 singles chart in the Top 40 from this album. At the stellar heights of #5, #37 and #40 though!
June 12, 20179 yr Surely that drop in the album charts for All Time Low is a, err, all time low! Steps albums have swapped :( Yes All Time Low's Album sitting at number 87 and looking like it may have chart run of 7-OUT. There are several classic Artists with multiple Albums in Top 100, pleasing to see 2 Stone Roses and 2 Guns 'N' Roses as well as the regulars.

I don't think people are saying the album is bad but if you release three very underwhelming singles to push the album then fewer people are going to rush out to buy the album to hear what else is on it. And I think Katy is very reliant on big singles to push album sales, she doesn't have the type of fanbase who will rush out first week and buy her album regardless.
June 13, 20179 yr At the stellar heights of #5, #37 and #40 though! Huge achievement tbh in the streaming era especially for an artist that has been slated for her new material.
June 13, 20179 yr Suspect Rag 'N' Bone Man will get another week in Top 5 Albums, he was a busy lad last weekend (Friday at IOW Festival, Saturday performed at Capital Summertime Ball as well as WILD LIFE Festival in Brighton and Sunday at The Parklife Weekender in Manchester), he will continue to gain new fans given the Performance I saw on TV on Friday night. 'Human' Single & Album both to be million-sellers.
June 13, 20179 yr Huge achievement tbh in the streaming era especially for an artist that has been slated for her new material. To be fair though, each of the singles has also had some other sort of hype/interest around it to make people buy/stream it. Chained to the Rhythm was Katy's hyped up comeback single, of course people would instantly jump on that when it was released. Also featured Bob Marley's grandson, Bon Appetite had the whole cannibalism/playful/gross/sexual video to go along with it and that would've helped introduce people to it (for better or worse). Also featured the increasingly popular Migos (also known as Quavo & friends). And Swish Swish is an anti-Taylor, house-infused pop song. Also featured Queen Nicki Minaj.

Regarding the video, I don't think it came out early enough to really provide a great amount of momentum behind the track. If it was ready at the same time as Bon Appetit was released, or even the week after release I am sure it would have had a better peak and have a longer chart run. Even with this still, it was never going to be a big smash hit here.

She's also has radio support and a 59p reduction for Bon Appetite (not sure about CTTR).
