December 31, 20204 yr @1344653291184123906 Happy New Year... It's impossible to get the R below 1 really now though. Everything is primed on this vaccine. We're starting to see the numbers spike up now from Christmas gatherings - I suspect numbers will probably peak next week.
January 1, 20214 yr You just know there will be some dickheads that will behave as if everything is back to normal just because 2020 is over.......
January 1, 20214 yr I also agree that she deserved to be arrested. I saw the video on FB and there were comments from people were applauding her and calling the police nazis. She wasn’t even in the covid ward It seems more people are following that woman’s lead as there’s more videos circulating around FB of people filming "empty" hospitals
January 1, 20214 yr It seems more people are following that woman’s lead as there’s more videos circulating around FB of people filming "empty" hospitals They do right. If we're being led to believe all hospitals are packed full and they're not then that wants exposing.
January 1, 20214 yr A recent paper (which has yet to be peer reviewed) has shown the new variant has a transmission advantage of 0.4 to 0.7 compared to the old variant. So if the R number was at 0.9 for the old variant, the new variant would be 1.3-1.6. Quite concerning if the findings are confirmed when the paper is peer reviewed. https://www.imperial.ac.uk/news/211793/new-...apidly-england/ It would explain why increased restrictions aren't working.

Good point. The current restrictions with Tiers and not a total lockdown were based on the previous transmission rate I think so that's why we're having this second rate which is worse in some areas than the first. Maybe people are right in calling for a full very strictly enforced lockdown now as opposed to these Tiers which confuses people.
January 1, 20214 yr Well, that was clear as mud as expected. I'm also just gonna wait for a work email! Wouldn't it make more sense to close all schools in a certain tier? Why would it be based on 'infection areas'? What I can't get over is Hancock deciding to close most London primary schools but has mandated Greenwich primaries to stay open, despite it being one of the boroughs with higher case rates, most likely because the government threatened to sue Greenwich council when they tried to anticipate this before Christmas and close a week early. It's the pettiest shit. It stinks of Trump denying millions of people in Michigan federal support because he personally didn't like the state's governor back in spring.

A number of London boroughs have written to the government over being asked to stay open despite cases rises dramatically. It doesn't make sense to me considering the case/hospitialisation increases in London over the last 2 weeks. All London primary schools should be closed.
January 1, 20214 yr Yes I agree that all London primaries should close for at least another 2 weeks until 18th. 420 more deaths just announced including an 8 year-old child. Edited January 1, 20214 yr by common sense
January 1, 20214 yr They do right. If we're being led to believe all hospitals are packed full and they're not then that wants exposing. 🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️ God you’re dense. Random members of the public can’t get in to high dependency wards and ICU. Spend less time online reading far right echo chambers and conspiracy theories
January 1, 20214 yr A friend of mine just told me their entire household has tested positive, with their grandfather now in hospital. Awful. 420 more deaths just announced including an 8 year-old child. @1345034584375885824 Quite a bit more than that — and another 50k+ cases. I would love to be wrong and for things to make a quick turnaround.
January 1, 20214 yr They do right. If we're being led to believe all hospitals are packed full and they're not then that wants exposing. Nobody has said that all hospitals are packed. A picture claiming to show a quiet hospital in Chesterfield does not disprove claims that a lot of London hospitals are struggling to cope. Why are you suddenly concerned that the government might be lying?
January 1, 20214 yr Tom Jones has announced that he has had Covid and recovered at 80. Good news. No, he said he’s had the vaccine.
January 1, 20214 yr Im crying. Where are you getting this rubbish Chris? A good friend at the Digital Spy forums.
January 1, 20214 yr No, he said he’s had the vaccine. Sorry, misread. A pop-up from a newspaper site.
January 1, 20214 yr No man lived who never made a mistake. I mis-read the pop-up okay. Is it a hanging offence? Edited January 1, 20214 yr by common sense
