ABBA seem to be really slowing now; likely won’t make 45k unless they have another lump of orders to process. And they’ll probably drop below Ed next week.

Oh well as long as they go platinum at some point I’ll be happy.

I could easily see Between Us debuting at #2 if they didn't have such a terrible label who gave them 0 playlisting/promo, the streaming would help with stability through the week..
hopefully All Too Well can pulll ahead of Shivers and it would be just as great if Seventeen Going Under can deny Coming For You a top 10 position as well.
Lol you go from bad to worst, not enough with the idiotic comments on signed CDs

now yo move onto the next target: Taylor's rerecordings

at least first go and educate yourself about why she does it and why it's not the same album

Not sure if this is aimed at me, but I do know why she recorded it so I don’t need educating. It was a broad comment encompassing all instances where this is happened I was making that’s all. I knew I shouldn’t have said anything

I agree hun.

I dont understand why an album that is not even that old is being recorded again. Is it because Tailer thinks the original is rubbish? What can be the other reasons? The album isnt from the 90s or early 00s. Do we think that fans will choose to listen to the oroginal or the remake later down the line?

Long story short she doesn't own the rights to the originals. JoJo had the idea first and should really be given credit for it.

Her fans will listen to the re-recorded versions exclusively since that is the whole point, casual listeners are unlikely to care or even know the situation so will just listen to the first version that appears on Spotify.

I'm not sure what will end up been the first runner up next week. Taylor/ABBA/Ed all possibilities... is anybody bothering to actually release something new in the same week as Adele?

It's a really interesting situation. Right now the extended hype is of course pulling all the original albums up the chart anyway, but I have to wonder if they'll settle lower than they started, under the assumption that the newer versions will siphon at least some fraction of their listeners. I hesitate to believe the new versions will stay ahead of the old ones but more power to her if they do.

D-block Europe are, new album out tomorrow  :heehee:

I'm so glad you know me, I've no idea who you are.

I'll be here one more week to gloat about true sales from Adele, not fake ones. In my eyes, Abba is number one, not Taylor Swift.

You mean Abba that had 12+ variants of their album which you were calling everyone else out for before?

Also...

Elbow also having a pop with their latest offering of bland indie for mums.

Oasis have got a Knebworth 1996 album coming out

Sting has his latest offering of pap coming out.

The Darkness have a half decent album coming out.

There's a Michael Buble Christmas snoozeathon out.

Jamie Cullum has a Christmas snoozeathon out.

French Montana have an album out.

Exodus have their first album out since 2014.

Let's be honest none of this or anything else on the list is gonna threaten Adele.

James Blunt also has a greatest hits out, though even he is joking about how he has no chance beating Adele/getting to number 1 if his Twitter is anything to go by.

Thanks my hun.

I wonder if she does not own the rights to the originals, does some money made from this album go to the owners of the original music?

personally the most weird store sale ever was Selena Gomez who sold 8K cassettes on her website

an artist with zero fanbase and never a big seller and did 50% of her sales on cassette, 1000% implausible

You mention this every so often and it's still not true lol; let me direct you to my reply to you from a few months back.

You're misremembering her numbers. Rare sold 17,661 sales overall in its first week, of which 5,122 were cassettes - not 8k. Cassettes therefore represented 29% of its sales. She also sold 5,585 CDs, 1269 downloads and 5685 streaming.

A condensed and simple explanation:

Taylor doesn’t own the masters of her first six albums. They were owned by her first record label Big Machine.

When leaving Big Machine, she tried negotiating the rights to them but was unsuccessful / the terms offered weren’t very favourable.

Big Machine was then sold to Scooter Braun for a reported $300 million dollars (including the masters to Taylor’s first 6 albums).

Taylor is not keen on Braun because of problems in the past - plus she wants to own the masters of her own albums. So she decided to re-record her first 6 albums, ones she would own the masters of, in the hope that her fans will listen to these new versions. And so far it has been a success.

Thanks my hun.

From what I understand, none of the money made from these re recordings will go to the first record label / the guy who bought that record label and the rights to the masters of the original 6 albums.

I don't agree with that either. As I said in a previous post; the charts should only include; 1 cd, vinyl, cassette, streaming. No signed for CDs, certainly not 30:000. Only people that agree with this are Taylor Swift stans, who complained when Ed Sheeran did it 🙄

Surely the chart should reflect what people BUY. I don't agree with streaming counting but if sales include signed CD's or 6 colours of vinyl then so be it. Fans have bough them.

What will be more embarrassing than putting out 3 versions of the same song in 6 days?

Miss the #1 spot despite the 3 versions.

Let's see!
