Singles chart top 100 load rubbish song 3 year go clog up chart. Gone have jump band wagon streaming ruin singles chart

its 1 song that is doing exceptionally well... its hardly "clogging up the chart" especially as it was wrongfully denird the #1 last week so now it has a chance. honestly you're very confusing

Its not always been that mad at a song like this hitting the top spot due to re releases in the 80s of old 50s hits but even then it was only 20 odd years. That’s why the acr rules are stupid as it doesn’t reflect that effectively imo!

Official Chart Update

#ChartFact

K-Pop icons BTS have just released their first Anthology album, PROOF, featuring a selection of old and new tracks - including their biggest hit in the UK, disco-pop banger Dynamite (2020) which has 745,000 UK chart sales to date.

what confuses me the most is the fact that ed sheeran is close to 2k over BTS in the albums! I'm shocked because of how well bts normally do in week 1, and then they start freefalling! was expecting them to be #2 at least!
Fantastic to see Kate no.1! Well done everyone who winged and moaned to the OCC. such a sensible decision.
First Class was the only current Top 40 song which went to ACR after last week then, with Leah Kate and Diplo & Miguel surviving as well as all those confirmed from First Look. Looks like Lizzo is heading to ACR as things stand.
So happy "Running Up That Hill" is reset! It makes so much sense given it's likely going to be one of the biggest singles of the year. :cheer: It's not as if it got a boost for one week then faded back into obscurity. It'll have longevity and another big boost likely in a couple weeks time.
Do you guys think it’s less likely that Mariah will get her 33rd top 20 hit now?

I look forward to endless debates in the future about old songs being reset because of this precedent xx but for the time being I think this is a fairly unique situation and giving the reset was clearly the common sense decision in this case so I'm glad they have done it after all even if it's at least a week late. It's pretty unambiguous that the song deserves to have #1 status and thrilled that it now looks like it will get it (especially as, with Harry's streaming back on the rise, its chances of hitting #1 while still on ACR in late June/early July were suddenly looking less realistic).

We are approaching the time of the year where the OCC often make quiet rule changes so I wonder if it's possible they're going to scrap the 3 year rule and are just applying it a couple of weeks early. Either that or this is just an exception because the label made a convincing enough argument and/or the comments actually got to them (I still kind of doubt that made any difference but you never know).

Boo at Cat Burns still being kind of far ahead of LF SYSTEM, hope they'll still overtake her some time in the next couple of weeks. I fear the threat of her reaching #1 may have still not passed yet. This is where Harry dodging ACR may come in handy x

Oops at whatever the issue is with BTS' physical sales... but in the mean time this allows the illusion that Chase And Status are actually outselling them :cheeseblock: was hoping they might do around 5-6k for the week so a nice surprise to see them already solidly over 5k, hope they have a chance of beating the opening sales of their 2017 album (did 6.8k to debut at #7), think they should be quite safe for a top 5 either way though! They have already beaten the opening sales of their last album (4.5k debuting at #12 in 2019) but that was a purposefully less commercial era from them so not too surprising that they're outdoing that.

Wow I did not expect Kate to actually be reset! That's wonderful news though (I hate the three year rule in general, not to mention the main point of purpose for it clearing the chart of Christmas songs in December doesn't work!) coming for that long overdue second number 1 *.
I do find a certain member’s obsession about Kate Bush puzzling. Even overlooking the fact the song is her best work and hugely popular with a completely new audience, I wouldn’t dream of making endless posts about songs I hate doing well. If I did that, I would never stop talking about Drake.

do we know if Kate has been given a special reset cos the label applied

or if the OCC has made a new chart rule without telling anyone? :D

anyway amazing for Kate Bush, the 3 year chart rule is totally idiotic and should have never been set in place

This person is even worse than I am at repeating themselves over and over (and lord knows I can be pretty bad sometimes!)

Great to see Kate being reset, though I do hope there has been a proper rule change allowing resets for old songs and this isn’t being treated as an exception. Defeats the point if they will just bend rules when it suits them.
Running Up That Hill climbs to number 4 in USA, becoming the first song written and produced by a solo female to crack the top 5 in 18 years. :cheer: Has it been that long here?
LF System bolting into the top 5, hopefully number 1 in the next couple of weeks, nice to see One Republic back in the top 40 if they hang on and i hope Sigalas stay the night can get there aswell,. Big wow for me seeing Def Leppard top 30, the album has already done far far better than i thought it would, a lot of Abba album back in the top 100 aswell.
Nice to see Kate being No1 but annoying still they didn’t do that last week as she may only have one week now with her in decline but hey Ho better than nothing.

Decent start for George as well he should be on for 40k at least. Anyone know if the 25k physicals are cds and vinyl? Or has he a vinyl?

He has lots of physical formats, lots of different vinyls at least 4 or 5, cassettes, CDs

lots of bundles, signed stuff, even personalised signed stuff

Physical sales apparently don't count for the UK chart due to some of the products it comes with (or something like that..)

I got the impression the expensive CD might be ineligible but I doubt that got many sales as it costs a fortune

but the cheap CD version, is just a CD and nothing else, that should count

Its interesting because it is no.1 in both digital sales and streaming but its radio airplay (which i personally don't think should be part of the formula, but it has been for 70 years) is so poor that its only 4 overall. I think its rare for a song to be no.1 in 2 of the metrics but not overall (particularly when one of them is streaming).
