Aitch only has 2 tracks in the top 200 on Spotify, the 2 singles, but no album tracks, not even 1989, so dont think he's doing that great on streams

If it's just close between Steps and Madonna then I think Steps should hold on quite easily. Different story if it's close between the entire top 3.

I haven’t looked but assuming that’s 2 more than Steps - if sales are close then even a small streaming difference could be the deciding factor?

^I mean, the top 2 tracks don't count for streams calculations

sure Aitch will do better than Steps on streaming, but it's not doing anything wild

so far:

1 Steps

2 Madonna

3 Aitch

4 Panic at the disco

5 Oasis anniversary edition

6 Demi

7 Hot Chip

9 Five Finger Death Punch

sorry meant aitch at #3

Steps combined must be WAY ahead of Madonna in that case!

Aitch did have a couple of album tracks in the top 200 on release day (so presumably still not far from the top 200 now) - yes he's not going to get huge streaming numbers but he will still have a pretty big advantage over Steps so they'll need to have a decent lead to hang on most likely.
Aitch beating steps would truly redefine homophobia.

That was when Gary Barlow beat them to #1.

It says in that article that Aitch is out-streaming Steps 7:1 so that could make a difference if sales are indeed close. I can’t see him being a big physical seller though?
He must have some fairly respectable pure sales to already be ahead of Panic! At The Disco I'd think! (Unless they are just doing significantly worse than their last two albums)
I can't see Madonna overtaking Steps as both will be fanbase driven so it does look like H vs Aitch. New Bon Jovi if they get four No.2s in a row.
I’d like to see the sales difference between ATF and BOTA

Steps are out in front in the race for the No.1 album this week, but it’s still an open contest with no fewer than eight new releases currently pushing for a Top 10 finish.

According to the Midweek Sales flash, Steps’ Platinum Collection is the leader at this stage on 16,609 sales, followed by Madonna’s Finally Enough Love: 50 Number Ones at No.2 on 11,192. Steps are hoping for a fourth No.1 with their collection, while Madonna’s remix compilation would be a 13th chart-topper if it did overtake the UK pop quartet.

While Aitch is trailing in third place with debut album Close To Home (8,394) at this point in the chart week, the UK rapper’s superior streaming volumes mean he can’t be written off.

Other new entries in the Midweek Top 10 include Panic At The Disco’s Viva Las Vengeance at No.4, a 25th anniversary edition of Oasis’ Be Here Now at No.5, Demi Lovato’s Holy Fvck at No.6, and Hot Chip’s Freakout/Release at No.7. The Top 10 entries are rounded off by a No.9 appearance for Afterlife by Five Finger Death Punch.

In the singles chart, LF System are in pole position with Afraid To Feel, which is chasing an eighth week at the summit. The Scottish duo’s nearest rival is another dance track, BOTA (Baddest Of Them All), by Eliza Rose and Interplanetary Criminal. Both singles are released by Warner Records.

Aitch and Ed Sheeran have the highest new entry with My G at No.7. Pink Venom by Blackpink is new at No.15.

Not steps being referred to as a quartet - yay for the decent lead for now though
