Yes, he had his reputation as Sassy Louis, the prankish, arched-eyebrow, smack-talking one, but when it came to the actual business of the band, Tomlinson always felt like the kid at the back. Never mind that he’d co-written more of their songs than any other member, including several of their biggest (“Perfect,” “Night Changes,” “Story of My Life,” “No Control,” “Home”)—the thought of him being out on his own was daunting. September 2, 20223 yr So, SO happy for Brit and 'Hold Me Closer' :wub: I'm really ecstatic with a top 3 peak so any longevity will be good for me now tbh. If it can scrape a new peak at some point, excellent, but as long as it holds for a few weeks, I'm more than happy with it's performance :wub: Even with how processed the vocals are, there's just something in her voice on the track that you just KNOW she loved recording and working on this. Really hope this works and helps her to find her confidence again to continue with music.

September 2, 20223 yr Great new number 1, my favourite in a long time (well, OK since Kate Bush, but longer with just 2022 songs x) it's grown on me a lot since BJSC and I never expected it to blow up so much! And even more wonderful to see Arctic Monkeys and Ghost in the top 40, up with indie <3 *.*
September 2, 20223 yr Most interesting chart in ages! Really liked most of the songs in the lower section, AM sounding incredible and Ghost being my new favourite thing. Entertained by the guest host having one of those car crash days we'll remember for some time. And then while I don't like a lot of the songs in the top 10 at the moment it was at least good to see high turnover.

September 3, 20223 yr Pleased to see Eliza getting the #1 after looking like she might have ended up stalling at #2. As I've posted elsewhere it is not quite as good as the rest of the current run of #1s for me but still pretty good - and LF SYSTEM have had enough weeks now of course. I have a bad feeling whatever replaces it is probably going to be a lot worse (unless it's something not released yet) so I'll enjoy this while it lasts :lol: I'm happy Britney is free and releasing music and having success obviously but 'Hold Me Closer' really just isn't it at all musically for me (not her fault, I blame whoever's idea it was to distort Elton's vocals in such a horrendous way). I hope she'll release some stuff of her own soon that will hopefully be a bit better than this. Glad 'Ferrari' has now at least matched the peak of James Hype's other hit, hope it'll still go higher. Happy enough to see Luude top 10 as well, so that's at least one decent new intake to the top 10, happy to see Nicki and Central dropping out as well even if the songs replacing them aren't necessarily much better. 'Bad Habit' dropping again. Welp. At least the US had had better taste again x Glad that 'HISTORY' is floundering so far but I know better than to celebrate just yet as there's every chance it'll just end up having a run similar to 'Crazy What Love Can Do' because we can't have nice things (and repeat that except replacing 'HISTORY' with 'Sunroof' and 'Crazy What Love Can Do' with 'I Ain't Worried'). Really hope Chris Brown is near peaking at this point, I don't know in what universe this dirge is worthy of being as high as it is already (then again 'No Guidance' was kind of similar). Ghost having an actual top 40 hit we love to see it *.* And cool that we had a surge of new entries at the end of the week which weren't there in the Wednesday mids - I'm glad to have been wrong about Arctic Monkeys because it'd have sucked for them to somehow end up missing the top 40 despite getting #1 on Spotify (though they still have a chance to climb next week anyway), and happy enough for Oxlade to make the top 40, not a huge favourite of mine or anything but it is a pleasant track and I'm here for Nigeria to continue punching above its historical weight in producing UK hit singles. It's nice that the current wave of afrobeat hits is coming mostly from actual African artists rather than UK/US melodic rappers appropriating the sound. Oh and there's a D-Block Europe song there too. Lol at the F-bombs sneaking in during the Guetta/Bebe play. The chart show really in shambles after Scott's departure.
