Different, I thought it was a cover version of Neneh Cherry's Manchild 🤣I agree with the above comments it does sound like The Giver in places.

This has grown on me more and more over the last few days and it's a really fun, catchy pop bop!

Excited for this BUT GET A JOB STAY AWAY FROM HER @ Jack Antonoff (yes, I'm aware he was behind PPP but still, his name always fills me with dread of boredom).

I'm really liking this and the video was fun too, it's clear she's getting the big budget now. I just hope this is rounding off the SNS sweet era as i'm hoping for a bit of a switch up in her sound for the next album.

The good news for you is that there's a license plate in the music video that says "1d704a6" and someone speculated that it means the next single is coming july 4thc(704) and it's a continuation of short n sweet (her 6th album, a6). Idk what 1d would mean, maybe just that it'll be produced by Julian Bunetta and John Ryan (who did a lot of one direction production and also Taste for Sabrina), who knows? But I think the first two make a lot of sense because she likes to release new songs before festivals. This weekend is Primavera sound, for example. She headlines BST Hyde park on july 5th-6th.

Anyway so if these festival releases are a continuation of short n sweet, sc7 might have a new sound

Yeah ngl I'm not feeling this. It's decent enough but nowhere near being as good as any of the singles from Short n' Sweet (even Please Please Please I've come to really like now). Obviously they can't all be big hitters like those but... this to launch a new era?

I believe the last couple of eras she’s done a single that’s like a bridge between eras, so this may end up being that bridge? She did smoke & fire between eyes wide open and evolution, and then skin between singular and emails I can’t send, so maybe this is that bridge single?

We can but hope sarah

I wonder if they’ll include it on Now 121 as well as Busy Woman or if they’ll save it for Now 122? I reckon if it goes number 1, they’ll probably include it on 121 so that it has at least one number 1 single

from her instagram post this is a leftover from Short, not the lead from a new era

no clue why it wasn't part of the deluxe album

She still remains at number 2 on Spotify. She could easily snatch a week if she pushes out physicals. If she gets number 1, then potential track 1 for Now 121

I can't help but feel the "f*** my liiiiife" part in the chorus of this sounds really quite awkward.

It does make you wonder if it's just another way to be (yawn) swearing in a song.

I'm sure she just could not think of a single other lyric!

I love the video, it’s so fun! Looks like it would have been expensive too - that’s a lot of different set ups. Easily one of the best I’ve seen this year.

For me this is a case of the music video helping to elevate the song. I found Manchild to be cute on first listen, but I’m properly into it now. I hope it holds on to #1!

I’m also not yearning for her to move on from this sound yet. It’s not even been a full year since Short n Sweet… so I’m happy for her to continue playing around with this sound/vibe.

This has really grown on me in a big way over the past couple of days. I think initially it was just a case of 'oh here's some more of the same' but from the second chorus onwards it slaps so hard ngl.
