Seems early for Avery to get a veto as she has a similar profile to many other artists who have one big hit and then win but it looks like the triple confirmation did it. Her previous single Griever was great too, she's 3/3 for me on her last few releases now.

Shapeshifting On A Saturday Night was probably the best pure pop track sent last year and was completely robbed (including by much of the pop bloc weirdly, many unexpected snubs there) at the time.

Ngl I was thinking of entering that Avery song too.

I did wonder if both Angèle and hemlocke springs would be attempted, albeit 'be the girl!' for the latter!

(edit: have been a bit behind with threads so completely missed the national final with 'w-w-w-w-w' in it until right now)

Yeah, to be clear it was the mixture of the two for me. I wouldn't always veto a triple confirmation, nor a former top 5. But the combination of the two feels hard to stick by.

'be the girl!' would have been even more of a definite veto as it's also in the Multichart x (I do like 'w-w-w-w-w' more myself though)

Haven't heard Avery yet but shall check it out! The other two vetoes I do agree with in this case. 'Shapeshifting' was one that I had snubbed in the contest but grew on me post-contest so definitely guilty for that!
