Madonna and Kylie were 25 in the Wednesday update…why is the same Wednesday update with sales figures now showing 64 not 25?

It's a Thursday update (so incl. Wednesday sales)

Weird because the post on Facebook says Wednesday update and the album chart positions for the reissues are the Wednesday ones.

If it were a Thursday update the album chart positions would be lower???

Was going to say the #75 for the whole of last week did barely over 7k so 6.4k for #64 would surely be too high even for a Thursday update. That being the position on the old rules chart makes more sense.

Well there would be zero CDs as this update includes up to the end of Wednesday, and the CDs were dispatched today. Therefore, theoretically they will be included in this week’s chart, tomorrow.

Do Kylie or Madonna fans mind that Love Sensation is not a bona fide chart hit if the label is gaming the charts to artificially inflate chart positions with time strategic releasing of physical singles because streaming numbers are almost non existent? Posters have already mentioned how they'll purchase any number of copies (that they'll never open or listen to)to inflate the chart numbers which to me goes against the spirit of the charts being a barometer of the most popular songs. Give me the Hugel/Ultra Nate new song MOVING TO THE SUN which is organically moving up the charts each week to ever increasing massive appeal. Thats a true and organic "chart hit" in my opinion.

I say this as a fan of Kylie and Madonna music going back almost 40 years but not a fan of forced/false hits. I know many other acts including some of today's biggest stars use similar tactics too but none of it is organic which as I said is my preferred type of chart hit(even if the song does nothing for me).

I take it that's what the BSI Merch dispatch notification is about then? None of these places ever tell you what the order they've dispatched actually is.

Well no one is forced to buy anything. I bought the song 13 times of my own volition with my own money, those are real sales, it’s not that different to a song getting added to a popular playlist and people forgetting to skip it.

Just nonsense. If people buy a record its much more of a genuine hit than if people accidentally play it because its on a paid for Playlist. Playlists should be excluded from chart figures and only paid for single chosen streams should count. This is the reason hardly anyone has heard of the new longest number one single in the UK - they may have heard it on a playlist but they never chose to listen to it and wouldn't seek it out otherwise. Streaming is in no way a barometer of popular songs, merely what songs are on the most Playlists and how high up they are.

If artists want to bite back by releasing CDs that fans might collect - good for them. Until the streaming rules are sorted its all fair game.

I think if anything it shows it genuinely deserves its spot because people have actually spent money buying a copy/copies which is more commitment than just streaming it.

The charts have been gamed since they started - there are always loop holes to play the system and some artists do it better than others.

I’m pleased there are still ways both can get hits with almost zero playlist and radio support.
