MJ didn't do it, Whitney didn't do it, George Michael, Prince, the list goes on so would be a quite spectacular moment if it happened for Dolly. Joining the 2 Beatles!I think the ubiquity and proliferation of streaming hadn't reached full impact when those legends passed and even in MJ and Whitney's case, streaming as yet didn't factor into chart position calculations. Kind of similar as to why Christmas songs had yet to dominate the charts back then during December. Streaming the same song 100 times benefits its chart potential. Downloading or purchasing a song once to listen a million times doesn't...
5 hours ago5 hr Last Christmas at least became a posthumous No.1 for George many times over, but granted not immediately after he died. I suppose the last to happen quite soon after an artist's death in relative terms (still about six months) was Aaliyah's More Than A Woman.

Very unusual that these two happened in succession and one hasn't really happened since (not very soon after their death anyway, I know Elvis had a few in 2002 and 2005, Notorious B.I.G. had a No.1 in 2006 and obviously Last Christmas).

Florence’s Lungs would’ve had an extra month atop the album charts too! Although lucky for Florence it did manage a #1 peak months later! Edited 5 hours ago5 hr by Jordanlee1402

3 hours ago3 hr I personally love the Hugel song and it feels genuinely feels like the biggest summer hit right now. It’s not Ai as per previous posts and it is surely the biggest hit of the week so the chart should reflect this (pls note i think as per Australia we should disqualify any fully AI song from the chart). I’m a chart fan and we definitely need rules. But we NEED it to reflect the tastes of the public and we can’t only have a chart steeped in nostalgia and history Edited 3 hours ago3 hr by av80
