Ironic that it's Jolene that might be going from 9 to 5

The way I just left my phone playing for the last hour or so with 9 to 5, Jolene and Islands on repeat

I hope Dolly can stop Choosin’ Texas from going number 1. That’s the next song I want on ACR next now that Rein Me In is on there and I expect Rein Me In to drop to 5 or 6

What made you change your mind in 3 hours and 28 minutes?

I've got a horrid feeling Choosin Texas will be a long running #1 FFS - why are we obsessed with such mediocre songs 😭

I got the impression its sales were on the downturn now so I wouldn’t have thought so! It could quite well be on 2 weeks of decline come Friday so as long as it doesn’t get a ‘#1 streaming boost’ it could well be on ACR soon!

Having said that, this Drake remix being threatened could cause all kinds of havoc 💀

Its probably coming. Ella collabing with another problematic male artist wouldn't be surprising

I cant even imagine with a Drake remix choosin Texas would be on top for long , unless she does get 3 more weeks in the US and the UK media suddenly harpens on about

I always wanted Choosin’ Texas on ACR and especially before December. When I said that’s the next song I want on ACR, I was referring to Choosin’ Texas. I’d rather Be Her and Choosin’ Texas swapped places

The usual link to the Singles midweeks update https://www.officialcharts.com/charts/singles-chart-update/ is only displaying the top 7. The full top 100 can be found at https://www.officialcharts.com/charts/singles-chart-update/20260831/7501u/

Rein Me In going to ACR broke the OCC website. It didn't know how to compute RMI not being #1, putting it at #8 caused it to glitch and remove #8-100 entirely cheeseblock

(jk, it's showing the full top 100 now)

New Miley this Friday I believe. Hoping she'll have another "Flowers" moment and save us cheeseblock

Bananarama at #3 and selling enough to potentially stay top 10 with an album that originally charted at #46!! 100% coming to improve their initial chart position either way. I am gobsmacked they are vastly outselling Tangled Up, even with their more formats.

Not to downplay how well Bananarama's anniversary album is doing, because it's doing excellently - but there is a lot of variants. It's pretty much been given the sort of treatment that brand new albums tend to get! There's a range of cheaper to more expensive items, so their fanbase is really spoiled for choice. Whereas Girls Aloud's label has been relatively restrained with the number of variants and there's no particularly cheap options.

I would say another difference between the groups is that Bananarama's three members are all able to celebrate this 40th anniversary, going as far as signing CDs and photo sets. Whereas in that regard, the Girls Aloud reissues are bittersweet, due to Sarah sadly not being with us anymore. The remaining four members of the group have been inactive for a couple of years. As far as I'm aware none of them have remarked on Tangled Up's release (which has been released 19 years on from the original release... so unlike the first three reissues, this isn't a 20th anniverary moment). The following is just my assumption... but I doubt the idea of having the girls sign some physicals or merch has ever been broached because of the circumstances, and that's often a way to draw people in to purchasing physicals. Ultimately I'd say that the Girls Aloud reissues have been fairly lowkey in terms of the push they've received, however they've been great at giving Girls Aloud fans what they want, including previously unheard songs/unseen pictures. heart

Fabulous stuff for Bananarama fans though, and them being so high in the midweeks is exciting! I hope it can remain Top 10. 🤩

I've listed all of their variants (and yes this took me an awfully long time to write up drama lol )

Because people talk about them down the pub…

Looking down the list, I doubt Alex Warren can hold on, and therefore there will probably be not a single New Entry in the top 40, only a few re-entries!

And great to see ‘The Chain’ back in for Fleetwood Mac. Earlier in the year when ‘Landslide’ was charting, there wasn’t space for ‘Everywhere’ and ‘The Chain’. For a few weeks in Jan/Feb ‘Everywhere’ charted in the Update but was overtaken by ‘The Chain’ by the Official Chart on Friday.

Then ‘The Chain’ fell away so that by the time ‘Landslide’ fell out of the chart ‘The Chain’ was no longer top 100.

I’ve seen that all three songs (but not ‘Dreams’) seem to have had a resurgence this week - but I assume ‘The Chain’ will be ahead of ‘Landslide’.

I don’t understand how Die On This Hill is still so high? I’ve not been keeping track of its Spotify/AM performance but surely it can’t be doing that well?

Guessing tomorrow's update should give us more of an idea. Surprised Great Expectation isn't more in the mix... but then I guess its trailing a bit on Apple and only pushed more in front on Spotify today

She’s now overtaken Ella on Apple!! Could maybe challenge next week then

I'd thought Choosing Texas was on ACR so it didn't enter my mind as a challenge, I feel it will sadly win unless a campaign gets going for Dolly. Four country songs in the top five is quite the feat though.

new OCC article states that Ella has overtaken the Dolly double to currently sit at #1, with HUGEL at #2 and SIENNA at #4 (all seperated by "fewer than 2,000 units") - I'd guess the article's based on in-between data from a hypothetical 'Tuesday midweek' so it'd be interesting to see if anything changes when the Wednesday midweek drops this evening
