November 21, 201213 yr Considering 'Unapologetic' is only being launched after a mid-tempo ballad (which only recently had a proper music video released for it) i'd say 100K is pretty good. Last year 'We Found Love' was MASSIVE (and the video), and with the Loud era she was coming off the back of Love The Way You Lie/had three XF performances/had much better material so it's no suprise this album (fourth consecutive November release) isn't as doing as well as them.
November 21, 201213 yr Coldplay's previous live album only got to number 46 so it may be that this one is chart eligible but simply isn't selling very well.
November 21, 201213 yr Coldplay's previous live album only got to number 46 so it may be that this one is chart eligible but simply isn't selling very well. It's been top 10 all week on iTunes (currently #7), while it's POSSIBLE that it could still be outside of the top 40 despite this I think it's much more likely that it's simply eligible because of the DVD. Although IIRC Take That's 'Progress Live' was the same and it was chart eligible  Edited November 21, 201213 yr by Bré

Although IIRC Take That's 'Progress Live' was the same and it was chart eligible  We are selling 4 different versions of Led Zepllin at work though - Standard, 2 CD & DVD, CD & DVD and CD & BluRay so if they are chart eligible then why are Coldplay not? I doubt that LZ are at #2 just on the back of standard CD sales when the version with the DVD is only £2 more and what most people are buying
November 21, 201213 yr This Coldplay 'Live 2012' album isn't being sold with tickets to concerts or anything, is it? A quick look on the OCC's chart rules says this: Tickets for live events and access „experiences‟ e.g. meet and greet are not eligible to be packaged within Album & Merchandise packages Note: Record companies must obtain written approval for ALL album and merchandise packages prior to production to ensure chart eligibility

November 21, 201213 yr I suppose it's possible that it's just a compilation error or there's some registration problem or something. There are occasionally albums which are nowhere on Wednesday due to problems like that then suddenly show up highly on Friday/Sunday, most recent example I think being Kendrick Lamar's 'good kid, m.A.A.d city' which wasn't in the Wednesday mids but was top 20 on the Friday and #16 for the week.
November 21, 201213 yr HA! I new Led Zeplin would be a surprise entry! Lool at it outselling little mix !
November 21, 201213 yr Manic Kangaroo has posted on Haven to say that record companies can decide whether to register a CD/DVD combination for the albums or DVD chart so it may be that they have decided to register the Coldplay release for the DVD chart.

Maybe they were swayed to making this album count towards the DVD chart after their last live album missed the Top 40 and they are guaranteed a #1 on the music DVD chart with this one! It's a shame though as the album looks like it's selling well and could have been in the Top 10 album chart
November 21, 201213 yr Leona's live CD & DVD was also moved to and charted on the DVD chart, didn't it?
November 21, 201213 yr Leona's live CD & DVD was also moved to and charted on the DVD chart, didn't it? Yes, it charted on the DVD chart. It sold pretty well too (over 100k).
November 21, 201213 yr Take That's Progress Live was a CD only release, there was a separate DVD release on sale. Coldplay's comes in two formats, one in a CD case and one in a DVD case, so I'm pretty certain it will have been registered for the DVD chart, what with the latter option being available to buy. There's no WAY it would miss the top 40, I even bought it as a casual fan, it's a lot of good stuff for £10!
November 22, 201213 yr Coldplay sounded rubbish live at the Olympics. Am sad about the GA single. I've done my best to hype it on my facebook. Damn that Murs! Maybe they should have tried for a Strictly/X Factor double performance.
November 22, 201213 yr I expect Girls Aloud to end up at #5. They have number 2 in the bag. They still are 14k ahead of 1D today. 1D have sold 7k yesterday, and there are 3 days of sales left. So basically GA only need to sell about 2,5k a day to ensure a #2 placing. :)

If they are doing 7k on Wed they could easily be doing 10 or 11k on Saturday.

November 22, 201213 yr and if Girls Aloud are doing 14k more than them, that should increase on Saturday if it's a big day for sales. No, the only way their lead would increase is if they were ahead on Itunes which they aren't and most likely wont be on Saturday. 1D made up 2k sales on one of the slower sales days, they are likely to make up more than 2k on both Friday and Saturday. I'd say there will be less than 2k in it either way come Sunday between GA and 1D, which way depends on how quickly GA song keeps falling on Itunes. Completely shocked at how well Beneath your Beautiful has done, though I found myself singing it the other day which is probably a good sign seen as both acts singing it I have no interest in.
