December 11, 201213 yr 187k WOT? :o I predicted 175k for the whole week before the final  Seriously how is it doing much better than Little Mix when ratings have been down a lot this year? I know it's a charity single but I was not expecting MASSIVE sales. I still don't think it'll outsell Matt Cardle but 400k is very achievable. And if it beats that awful cover of HAHHMB that would be even better! :cheer:
December 11, 201213 yr People who would not normally buy the winners single will do because of Arthur's perceived credibility. It has nothing to with the popularity of the show and everything to do with the popularity of the artist. He has over 1m followers on twitter already which is fairly amazing and just about everyone in the media says they're a fan of him. And it is a good song and for charity.

Let's not even get started on 'perceived credibility', that's very reminiscent of Matt (although I wouldn't mind James doing a Matt).
December 11, 201213 yr Quite taken aback by those sales. Particularly as James's version on the song is complete cack. Who knew the key to getting the public to like a male contestant would be to have a really awful 'singer' win. I can't hear his 'pain' but he sounds like he's in pain.
December 11, 201213 yr I'm shocked by how much this is selling. On the positive side, something else to help knock Wild Ones out the YTD top 10.
December 11, 201213 yr Plenty of copies by the till in HMV Croydon-didn't seem to be flying out the door................
December 11, 201213 yr Based on this conversation, I guess James A is an X Factor winner. Good for him. Sometimes it's funny to observe the charts far away and think what are they thinking! (re: James and the song Impossible) (to clarify, I have no opinion about him, but the song doesn't suit him at all) Edited December 11, 201213 yr by SKOB
December 11, 201213 yr Good for him tbh this is the first ever Xfactor single i`ve ever bought, & i bought it simply cause i like James idc for charity singles tbh Anyway any news on any other releases?

December 11, 201213 yr J.A's Impossible is nothing... B-) I doubt he will even do a Matt Cardle with his career, totally insignificant in my books. But then again it was another poor year for TXF...

December 11, 201213 yr I think James is easily going to clear 500,000 sales this week - Taking into account the fact that the CD single is being sold at HMV, Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury's and Morrisons that equates to around 3,000 stores selling the CD - If they all manage to sell *only* 50 copies in each store this week thats 150,000 sales added to the 187,000 figure [Total of 337,000] and thats without 5 days of downloads and any online orders for the CD from HMV, Amazon, Play etc, still to come.
December 11, 201213 yr Just realised Rod has a CD single release of 'Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas' this week too with proceeds going to Charity - Could possibly give him his first Top 75 single since 2001 when 'I Can't Deny It' peaked at #26.

This is even doing alright on downloads, currently #66 on iTunes and I have seen it in the top 60. Good chance of being top 40 with likely strong physical sales as well! Who'd have thought we'd ever see Rod Stewart back in the singles chart :o
December 12, 201213 yr I think James is easily going to clear 500,000 sales this week - Taking into account the fact that the CD single is being sold at HMV, Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury's and Morrisons that equates to around 3,000 stores selling the CD - If they all manage to sell *only* 50 copies in each store this week thats 150,000 sales added to the 187,000 figure [Total of 337,000] and thats without 5 days of downloads and any online orders for the CD from HMV, Amazon, Play etc, still to come. I think that's a wildly optimist assessment of how many CD singles it'll sell. IMO 50-75k will be more like it - people just aren't looking for CDS's any more.
