Biography

Known initially for his role as Jimmy Brooks on Degrassi: The Next Generation, Toronto, Ontario, native Drake (born Aubrey Drake Graham) stepped out as a rapper and singer with pop appeal in 2006, when he initiated a series of mixtapes. A year later, despite being unsigned, he scored major exposure when his cocky and laid-back track "Replacement Girl," featuring Trey Songz, was featured on BET's 106 & Park program as its "Joint of the Day." He raised his profile throughout the next several months by popping up on countless mixtapes and remixes, and as rumors swirled about contract offers from labels, he gradually became one of the most talked-about artists in the industry. It did not hurt that he had support from the likes of Kanye West, Jay-Z, and Lil Wayne. By the end of June 2009, "Best I Ever Had," a promotional single, had climbed to number two on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. After a fierce bidding war, Drake signed with Universal Motown in late summer and released an EP (So Far Gone) made up of songs from his popular So Far Gone mixtape. It peaked at number six on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart and won a 2010 Juno Award for Rap Recording of the Year. Thank Me Later, a full-length featuring collaborations with the Kings of Leon, the-Dream, Jay-Z, Kanye West, and Lil Wayne, was issued through Young Money the following year. It debuted at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart and was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. Still, the artist felt his debut was rushed, so its 2011 follow-up arrived with the title Take Care, referencing the increased time and effort put into the album’s creation. Receiving critical acclaim, Grammy awards, and the number one slot on the U.S. Billboard 200, Take Care cemented Drake's place as one of Canada's biggest exports. In 2012, while on tour, Drake announced that he had started work on what would be his third studio album. Nothing Was the Same was scheduled for a September 2013 release. - iTunes

Hold On, We're Going Home

So many great songs in the chart at the moment, probably only about 5 that I seriously dislike.

The more I listen to HO,WGH the more I love it. Who knew a Drake song without Rihanna could be so good?
I'm not sure how anyone can deny 'Bonkers' either. Then again we are talking about Joseph.

Bonkers would be my second favourite Dizzee track with Holiday in third place.

Drake still holing on. Not a big fan, but I do like this track. :)

"Same Love"

I hope it becomes the new "Ho Hey" and stays in the top 40 for ages!

Appreciate that Jason Mraz only has two #11 singles to his name - at least he can't be called a one-hit wonder.

Thought "Let It Go" had left the T40 weeks back, can't believe it's still at #25!

Bonkers would be my second favourite Dizzee track with Holiday in third place.

I loved Holiday, Dance Wiv Me & Dirtee Cash but that was about it. He was HUGE in 2009! Also, it still baffles me how Dirtee Disco was a #1. :puke:

The better album made it to number 1 - now for the better single to make it this week!

1. Get Like Me is an absolute TUNE!! And how young and charismatic (and hot ) does Pharrell look in the video for it? He absolutely owns that track. Nelly just has no personality at all.

2. Same Love looks like it's going to peak at #6 then which is pretty good but a bit annoying considering it went top five in most countries. Hope it sticks around for a long time.

Good to see The Arctic Monkeys still in the Top 5 and happy Kings Of Leon haven't fallen too much this week.

Sad to see Justin Timberlake losing his run of number 1 albums, but good to see Haim number 1 in the album chart :)

Booo at Justin losing his #1 streak but also YAY for HAIM.

The position for 'The Complete Experience' will be filled in in a min ~

Yay!! Really glad HAIM got to #1. Justin's material has been really lacking for me lately, so prefered HAIM to get to #1! :D

Biography

Actress/vocalist Demi Lovato began making a name for herself after starring alongside the Jonas Brothers in the 2008 Disney Channel movie Camp Rock. Born in 1992 in Dallas, Texas, she was raised in a household that included her mother (a former Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader) and her two sisters, the youngest of whom launched her own acting career in 2008. Demi started out as a child actress, starring as a cast regular on Barney and Friends before finding her way onto the Disney Channel with a brief role in As the Bell Rings. Lovato's debut album, Don't Forget, featuring songs co-written by the Jonas Brothers, was released by Hollywood Records several months after Camp Rock's premiere. It debuted at number two, confirming Lovato's status as a star in her own right, and was followed in 2009 by the chart-topping Here We Go Again. Meanwhile, Lovato continued to act, appearing in a popular sequel to Camp Rock and starring in her own Disney series, Sonny with a Chance. In 2010, following a widely reported altercation with a backup dancer, Lovato left a tour with the Jonas Brothers to enter a treatment center for unspecified physical and emotional problems. After leaving the facility in 2011, Lovato announced that she had been treated for bulimia, among other issues, and had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder. She also revealed that she would not be returning to work on Sonny with a Chance. In 2011, Lovato released the studio album Unbroken, featuring the Toby Gad-produced single "Skyscraper," as well as the Timbaland/Missy Elliott-produced "All Night Long," but it was "Give Your Heart a Break" that was the album's second biggest hit, peaking at 16 on the Billboard Hot 100 on its way to being certified platinum.

Lovato's comeback continued in 2012 when she, along with Britney Spears, signed to be one of the four judges on the second season of the U.S. version of The X Factor, debuting in the fall of 2012. Lovato's role on The X Factor was a success, leading to her return for the 2013 season. Prior to the show's fall launch, Lovato released her fourth album, Demi, which appeared in May of 2013 preceded by the single "Heart Attack." - iTunes

Absolutely beautiful, so happy this has got into the top 10! (Also loving her on Glee atm ^_^)

Her voice on "Skyscraper" sounds worse each time I hear it
