What Now also climbed 39-25 on the Hot 100 (then dropped to 74 :cry:)

 

For what it's worth I agree with fchd that it's not exactly the most interesting thing to have the exact same years in the retros every week (though I obviously appreciate all the work Gezza puts into it!) I don't see what the harm in having one more different choice of year each week is?

I actually have no issue with fchd's retros as they are usually way off the regular ones.

I don't get the love for look right through...

Biography

Following the success of Tiësto, Armin van Buuren, and Fedde Le Grand, Nick Van de Wall, aka Afrojack, is the latest DJ, producer, and remixer to break through from the burgeoning Dutch dance music scene. Born in Spijkenisse in 1988, he began playing the piano at age five, but after getting his hands on a copy of music-sequencing program Fruity Loops, he started to play around with samples and create his own songs. After discovering the Rotterdam club scene, he began performing short DJ sets before traveling to Crete to hone his craft, playing at various clubs over a five-month period. Returning to his native Holland, he signed to the independent Digidance label and released his debut single, "Afrojack: In Your Face," before forming his own record company, Wall Recordings, scoring club hits with "Math" and "Do My Dance." Following performances at dance festivals Tomorrowland and Sensation, and a collaboration on David Guetta's One Love album ("Toyfriend"), he was invited to remix the likes of Madonna's "Revolver" and Lady Gaga's "Alejandro." In 2010, he teamed up with electro-pop vocalist Eva Simons on his first U.K. Top 40 hit, "Take Over Control," and also released a rarities album, Lost and Found, featuring nine previously unreleased tracks, in the same year. In 2011 he collaborated with Miami rapper Pitbull for the hit single "Give Me Everything" and released his own hit track "The Future." A 2012 tour of America was followed by the announcement that a new Afrojack album would be released in 2013.

Was expecting 'The Spark' to stay top 20 this week? Ah well. It's growing on me, the last chorus is a *.* moment as generic as it is.

The regular retro isn't changing, glad some of you appreciate it and don't think it boring :D

I absolutely love the retros each week too, purely for the nostalgia & forgotten gems.

The Retro charts (especially with Gezza's info) provide a good comparison of sales over the years. However, one additional - older - retro chart with a brief commentary also adds something to the chart show thread.

The sparkles brilliant!! Heard it the first time this week and I have to say I'm impressed. A #17 is not welcome though.

That's not what I'm saying at all and I don't think it's what fchd was saying either. No one wants Gezza to stop doing the retros, but I don't see the issue with fchd doing one as well especially if it gives slightly more than the same 4 years we always get!
