This is just very saddening. :( The sooner Trump gives up and leaves the spotlight the better! Surely this is not the America anybody wants, especially as they are threatening the democracy itself? Also the difference in reactions from the police between this and BLM protests are awful. There's literally videos of cops opening gates for these terrorists and taking selfies with them inside the Capitol.

Be fair, they have apparently made some arrests. A whole thirteen people.

Even if this blows over, there will still be something new and bigger happening more often. Now that the deeply unintelligent mob had a taste of power there won't be going back.

And already is has been more needed up than 2020 was.

Shocking and horrifying to see this happen! I don't see how the House or Senate can allow Trump to continue in office up to inauguration after this and moves must be made to remove him immediately (whether by the 25th amendment or impeachment) AND must ban him from running for office again. This is a full blown attack on the American democracy, laws and institutions and was absolutely incited by Trump.

 

If Trump encouraging this sort of behaviour isn't worth at least a criminal change, I don't know what is.

How easy would it be for Pence to invoke the 25th? I'm not overly clued up on US politics, but I feel like Trump is genuinely a danger to the country even for fourteen days if he keeps peddling his narrative, and what will they do at the inauguration? :/

 

I knew it wouldn't exactly be a peaceful handover, but this is just saddening. I can't believe I was feeling hopeful for the country earlier today.

The scenes that are going on remind me way too much of Wonder Woman 1984 and in a bad way. I physically feel so unsafe in this continent and I’m on the west coast. The fact that there were cultural parades in BLM protests and the government unleashed a full on riot squad onto them and yet someone was MURDERED IN THE CAPITOL BUILDING but this was encouraged... :drama:
