No.6 Collaborations Project has sold 866k as of last Friday - I don't think anything released since then has come anywhere near that total?

afaik this is correct, though the Lewis Capaldi album released just a couple months before has sold at least 1.2m. Before that you'd have to go back to Staying at Tamara's, released in March 2018, with at least 900k sales for another album that's sold more than No.6. Figures based purely on their certification, I don't have exact figures. I believe Fine Line with around 500k sales is the best selling album released since then.

This will all go out the window soon though of course, with = and certainly 30 both likely to pass No.6, probably before the end of the year.

The gap between Adele and Elton and Dua currently stands at 106,610 sales.
My faves are Adele, indie acts who focus on REAL punk and alternative music, not chssing heats with beige pop, and don't give two SHETS about selling, the biggest girl band OF ALL TIME, Lady GaGa and Rihanna and Beyoncé. They're all doin much better than Coldpopflop, and all without selling out x

Stay mad.

When it comes to personal taste I don't think Coldplay have put out a decent track since Hymn For The Weekend but to claim the album is a flop when it's just taken the highest weekly sale since 2019 is hardly accurate. It's not really a criticism to point out that it's sales are looking very frontloaded either when that describes the vast majority of #1 albums over the past few years. By the standards of the field its playing in, the album has been a success.

Adele scores fastest-selling single of the year with Easy On Me

According to the latest Midweek sales flash, Adele’s comeback single is on course to debut at No.1 with first week sales already at 150,000.

According to the Official Charts Company, Easy On Me (Columbia) has racked up 12.8 million audio streams so far and 21,288 downloads. Its calculated chart sale up to the end of Tuesday (October 19) was 149,865.

Adele’s Easy On Me is now officially the fastest-selling single of the year so far.

Any figures for nos. 1 and 2 on album chart?

Me too but I think that just really highlights that iTunes is pretty much dead forever now
iTunes is hanging on by a thread but 21,288 downloads sales is impressive in the current climate.
It looks like Daniel O'Donnell will be comfortably within the the top 40 albums chart on Friday which will extend his streak of new top 40 albums to 31 consecutive years.

But this is Coldplay purposely doing a ‘pop’ album so they aren’t selling out they are doing something different. Just like the previous album was one of their more experimental LPs!

Apart from for LadBaby of course... :drama: (and the occasional other charity single)

It is rather curious to note that the Adele song really hasn't been particularly dominant on iTunes even by current standards though - it never pushed 'Cold Heart' any lower than 0.19 and it's back up to 0.56 now. Of course 'Cold Heart' is also a relatively strong download seller for current times but you'd think given Adele's previous strength in downloads and the big event that this release is that she would be a little bit further ahead that that, I thought she'd reliably be pushing #2 down well below 0.1 for a while regardless of how well received the song was on streaming. Instead she seems to have made an extremely successful transition to the full-on streaming era where she's outstreaming Ed and Elton more than 3 to 1.

Imagine if Adele had only made it available to download this week…..wonder what her sales would be?

Was Hello just a download opening week or was there CD/ Vinyl?

Edit….just realised it was available to stream.

If she'd done that it's entirely possible she wouldn't have even made #1. Her download sales as it stands look like they'll end the week at 25k-30k, so if it'd only been able to download I expect it would've done 50k-60k, which would've put it at #2 or #3 most likely. Still an insane amount of downloads in the current climate, but the download market simply isn't large enough anymore to generate a hit single (though charity singles are still able to get #1 off downloads alone).

It had the biggest opening week of 2019 and is currently certified 2x Platinum (probably closer to 3x Platinum at this point given that that rating was awarded in January 2020) so it was hardly a slouch lol. Not to mention the fact that it was more of a side project compared to Ed's "main" albums (being +, ×, ÷ and now =), so the lower sales were to be expected. = should clear those figures easily.

Please stop with calling No6 a project when it was pushed on streaming like the advent of Jesus

It was idiotic enough that Ed pretended it wasn't a proper album cos he didn't do promo, like if being #1 on every imaginable playlists on Spotify is not promo

Im still shocked at how little it did on week 1 especially on physicals, bit of a flop :D
