The Drive-esque slow-burn chugging synth production is right up my street, her lower register sounds great and I really like the storytelling too. I found the chorus a bit limp on first listen but it's growing on subsequent plays.

The music video is apparently out on Monday!

This is beyond dull. It sounds like something you find on New Music Friday and think oh this is nice but never return to. It's so poor for Ariana standards.

We were just discussing if we were gonna get a lead! I’m glad that we are! Everything about this era has a little mystery so far like album title, single title, the photoshoot. I’m almost expecting

Just one more week until the “petal” era officially begins!

It’s pleasant enough, but nothing wow tbh, even yes and which was quite a weak song had more star factor. I can see myself listening to it occasionally but it’s pretty weak for a lead single

If this was Madison Beer (with whom she's basically copied) you wouldn't be even talking about it. Shows how unlucky Madison has been.

This is very much like twilight zone/we can't be friends. However considering yes and? Was released as the lead for that album, Petal could be not like Eternal Sunshine at all

Hmm. It's a bit too the Weeknd for me to stan, but I do quite like how bedroom pop the entire thing is. Her pen is great too x

Yeah its ok i guess but definitely doesnt scream lead single for me, she has way better than this id be suprised if its a long running number 1

Cute enough but a Madison Beer album track level song for an artist of this calibre’s lead single is crazy, not feeling it a huge amount

Yeah this is pretty mediocre... But she hasn't even had a number one since 2020 so a long running #1 is a tough ask to begin with.

I like it more than yes, and? myself on first listen, quite a hypnotic groove and the shimmering production in the verses is lovely.

The chorus is basic but an earworm. I went straight back for a second listen anyway.

The chords remind me of something else that I can't pinpoint at this moment.

Hopefully over a million tomorrow!

I’ve heard this a couple of times now and it’s not growing, but I’m not disliking it either. It’s a lovely song and one I will continue to play but I’m not sure I’ll remember it much.

Yeah, I-I-I love this ❤️

It’s a lot more understated than I was expecting but I always love an unexpected lead single. Love the production and her voice sounds better than ever. It follows on so nicely from eternal sunshine and brighter days ahead, she’s really found her lane

I would’ve loved her to fully go for it in those two final choruses, but also appreciate how dreamy it is with the softer vocals

This is so good omg, it’s actually what I was hoping for bearing in mind how much I’ve loved Madison’s work this year and how her music felt inspired by Ari and this sort of dream-pop style is perfect for her.

I’m in the this is dull camp. It doesn’t go far enough into the laid back synth vibe for me to be on board with it from a production angle; where as it doesn’t have enough of a hook for me to love it as a pop song. Pleasant but not something I’ll return to.
