For me, the first song that I truly hated with a passion was "The Club Is Alive". I could never stand it... and still can't today.

The first song I can remember not liking was Firestarter (probably because the video used to scare me). Not that I reckoned much to the song either 😂

I used to be terrified of 'Leaving On A Jet Plane' as a small child 😭 the first anxious thought I ever remember having was not wanting my family to fly away and abandon me in the literal sense...! I quite like it now though

Fireflies by Owl City is the first one I can remember hating and then anything by Ed Sheeran, I'm sure there must be others from when I was a child but I don't remember

Horny '98 by Mousse T I think, the lyrics were embarrassing.

Everybody Hurts by REM and Elton John - Can You Feel The Love Tonight made me cry as a child.

Chronologically I think it was probably 'Heavyweight Champion of the World' by Reverend and the Makers, although I can't exactly remember why I didn't like it! I quite enjoy it now.

I actually made a playlist a couple of months ago of songs I used to hate Other songs on the list were:

Fleet Foxes - White Winter Hymnal (it was slow and miserable - again, quite like it now!)

Groove Armada - By The River (for pretty much the same reason as above, plus it was reallllly long)

Jim Noir - Good Old Vinyl (the line 'Broken, I've broken all my favorite CDs / And soon I won't be able to get them no more' physically distressed me as a CD-loving child)

Can Bonomo - Love Me Back (Turkey's 2012 Eurovision entry, he creeped me out a bit I think!)

Kate Bush - Wuthering Heights (for the screeching!)

Busta Rhymes - Gimme Some More, though this is probably more for the video

Mainly the e boring ballads staying too long at #1 in the early 90s. Whitney Houston - I will always love you and Bryan Adams- Everything I Do.

I grew to seriously hate Yazoo - Only You as a small child because my mum played it so much it did my head in!

Now as an adult with the passage of time and more refined tastes, I can look upon it a lot more fondly

The Streets - Dry Your Eyes

Absolutely hated it as a kid. Like it rather a lot more now.

Alesha Dixon - Drummer Boy

I still find it annoying now.

Crystal Waters - Gypsy Woman. I found the “La Da Dee…” like a demonic incantation and it absolutely terrified me. I remember being nervous that it would come on whenever the car radio was on and I’d have to put my fingers in my ears.

I think it’s a good record now!

Nothing in the first year I remember the charts in 1987 stands out as being something I really despised at the time. Likewise nothing on Now 11 which was my first Now.

At the start of 1988 though there's "I Think We're Alone Now" by Tiffany but I can't remember if I really despised it when it was at number 1 or from hearing it often on Now 12.

The other songs on Now 12 I particularly hated were:

Natalie Cole - Pink Cadillac

Bananarama - I Want You Back

Heart - These Dreams

Hazell Dean - Who's Leaving Who

It was the Hazell Dean song I hated the most but it makes me judder thinking back to listening to all of those songs.

I’m gonna say Killing Me Softly by Fugees

The earliest I can recall is Soulja Boy - Crank That. The fact that everyone at school was obsessed with it made it all the more frustrating.

Probably Three Lions. Even at a very young age I thought it was tripe. The fact they’d wheel it out every 2-4 years as well… drives me insane.

Not sure why I can't come up with anything from earlier, I was 18 when it came out but 'I Gotta Feeling' by The Black Eyed Peas haha. It's difficult for me to absolutely despise a song but I just always found it really annoying.
