BJSC 182: Semi-Finals
12 pointsMade recap videos using a recap generating tool that a friend from another song contest made. (He said it was free to use for anyone) It works by trying to find a chorus in each song and then choosing a snippet based on that. So hopefully every song got a good snippet. (it seems like it made good choices overall to me) Seven songs I had to enter timestamps manually as it couldn't detect a chorus: Mothertopia, Baleghde, Cumulonimbia, Aeroche, Jadakissnia, Neliönoir and Trifoski. (I'm not really sure why it couldn't pick up the Jennifer Aniston one but oh well) I'll put them in the OP as well. Semi Final One Semi Final Two12 points

Bop Idol 6: BOP PARTY / Voting / Deadline: Saturday 21st February 2026, 23:59 GMT
I've put the votes into the scoreboard and we do, I can reveal, have a winner. Get your afternoon tea party ready for a late afternoon/early evening results show. To try and avoid the common problem in many Buzzjack contests of pop songs running away with it for the first half and leaving everyone else to catch up all evening, the results will be presented in a RANDOM order, and not order of receipt.6 points

Solo Suspex – They Don't Know - 13 points (Dobbo) So there you have it, huge congratulations to dhwe for a first Bop Idol win! It might be a certain kind of party you would hear Baptism at, and probably not the same one playing Skylar Stecker and Solo Suspex down the other end, but this theme was open to interpretation and it’s a deserving and very convincing win, 32 points ahead of second place. And in the end it’s Addy who finishes runner up with the European hit from French Affair, a point ahead of RobBot’s own continential smash from Lucky Twice and Juan Carlos' A*Teens, with the top five rounded off by Kelis from Scene! I’m very happy to have managed sixth place with our host entry from Jeans Team and MJ Lan, with three golds, I didn’t expect that at all, so thanks very much to all of the voters. Chez Wombat’s The Presets, a late rally for Julian_’s Kaskade, AllStarBySmashMouth’s Little Big and The White Stripes from JimWatts round off a very alt/electronic/dance top ten, with the obvious exceptions of Lucky Twice and A*Teens! Thank you all so much for your entries, it’s been such a lot of fun to host this party. Please collect your party bag on the way out, they have some great cake and advance entry passes to Bop Idol 7, which dhwe will hopefully host in a few months time! I will let you get to the BJSC listenthrough, enjoy! Friday Chart Predictions
5 pointsI knew someone who worked for a compilation album company, and apparently it was super tedious and lot more complicated than you think, because the record labels would have tons of rules and requirements for each song. Like they'd only allow you to use a song if it was in a certain position on a track list, or only if you DIDN'T use another song, or only if it came before or after a certain song or a type of song, or only if you include a certain number of seconds of a song in your TV adverts, or only if you highlight the song on the album cover. And then it becomes more of a puzzle where you have dozens of requirements and you just have to try and list the songs in an order that doesn't break anyone's rules. Which is usually impossible so you have to call everybody up again and re-negotiate. And every time you move a song to a different position on the track list then now half the other songs are now breaking their requirements so you have to move them too. It sounds more like doing an extremely hard Sudoku, rather than a job where you can simply use your music knowledge and creativity to make a nice tracklist.5 points

United Kingdom · Eurovision Song Contest 2026
I really don't see the problem with "nobodies", it's always the song, not the act, and you hearing of people does not mean they don't have talent. That you never heard of him doesn't mean he's a nobody either, this is probably the first time most of the general public have heard of him but he's got fairly decent numbers on Spotify/Youtube, does have a reasonably long career as a musician/audio artist and many of us here are already aware of him. Also like, well-known names never pan out well, they often end up with a weak song that's nowhere near as good as it could be. Can quite easily see why he would do it now, he's been doing his thing for a few years in his niche, and it's an opportunity to get that niche exposed to the whole continent if briefly, and he can easily go back to doing what he did before afterwards.5 points

Bop Idol 6: BOP PARTY / Results
4 pointsWell done dhwe! I kinda had that one down as a clear favourite when listening through the songs, one of the easiest 12s I've given in one of these although the Lucky song was a brilliant discovery as well and would have been equally happy with that prevailing. And of course French Affair was the only song I knew pre-contest and gave me big entry envy as had it come to my mind I probably would have tried submitting that myself. On the same lines I knew that my entry was absolutely doomed in this field as it was totally against the "sound" of the contest but I was simply unfortunate in that not a single song on either of my potentials playlists was eligible for this theme so had no choice but to dig through old Personal Charts and send something that I once considered for BJSC (good job it was never wasted there!) So no sour grapes whatsoever at propping up the table this time as it did sound so generic in a field of much more inspired entries. Big hand to gooddelta for hosting, was nice to be involved in this style of points reveal which you know I was a big fan of from being an observer in BJSC 180!4 points

Inventing new ways to imply everyone is sexist, yay (If you're really using that logic 'Ordinary' is entirely singing about a woman so xx of course George Michael being gay means that's a song by a man that might be about another man so that's just the worst of all, gays ruining everything -_-)4 points
