Paradise Lost haven't had a Top 40 album in their home country since Draconian in 1995 according to their Wiki page

Low sales or not I hope they do get their highest charting album in ages with Obsidian

Weird, must be a particularly good album, will have to check it out. I am familiar with some songs from this band.

I have never heard of Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, Polo G, Callum Beattie and Perfume Genius and only vaguely recall reading about the Sleaford Mods before. The album chart is certainly interesting this week.

I first heard about Sleaford Mods because of how much they hate Idles

They're alright, my friend has seen them live a few times and really enjoyed it. (I prefer Idles tho!)

He's expecting the album to release early 2021, which seems about right - 2 years after the debut.

Though I'd expect the lead single in the Autumn/Winter of this year actually, which sounds like a good time for it.

I hope it ends up being at least a year from now before we hear anything from him, it's been complete overkill!

It's quite something if they do stay at #1 for Friday, I must listen to their music soon.

Charli XCX isn't doing so well in the album charts :(

Stuck With U has debuted at number one in the U.S; it prevents Gooba by 69 claiming his first number one.

It’s a shame that Ari/Biebs’ peak over here will likely be #4 as it deserves a much higher one.

Though worth noting 6ix9ine wouldn't have been #1 anyway, he debuted at #3, also behind Doja Cat :D

I would consider it very unlikely for them to stay at #1 for Friday considering how small the gap is between them and Lewis Capaldi!

I agree, at least it should be their highest charting album! The last one "Eton Alive" got to #9 last year.

It's interesting to see two 50-ish olds being the most successful that they've ever been.

Yeh a winter ballad would ring correct!

I know of Sleaford Mods from them featuring on 'Ibiza' by The Prodigy - their latest single 'Second' is pretty good, cool to see them taking advantage of the rock bottom sales to get an unexpected midweek #1 album  Jason Isbell slaying in the top 5 as well *.*

Disappointing position again for Charli XCX but she wasn't getting good album chart positions even when she was still getting hit singles so it's hardly surprising to see this one struggling as well. I don't think she was really aiming at chart success with this album (or just in her career in general now really).

Was not expecting Hayley Williams to fall so far!

About as much as Paradise Lost being No6 when their 2 previous albums were 51 and 56 (although I know they won't stay there)

Props to Aaron Aedy, Greg Mackintosh, Nick Holmes and co for having such a long career though. I still remember them from school but I bet they don't remember me. And 5 top 10 albums in Germany and Finland is not to be sneezed at. I think they would say their career overall has been successful

looks like it could be Jason Isbell's first top 10 album in the UK

looking at the chart update page I just realised how much Hayley has fallen... 1-79... sad to see...

79 1 PETALS FOR ARMOR HAYLEY WILLIAMS

Considering how everything since NRO has done, I think this is a good start for Daisies. That Katy Perry performance is all over social media, so interest in that hopefully will generate enough interest in the song to keep it top 40. I can’t see anything matching or beating the performance of NRO from this new album but I hope Katy surprises us.
I don’t think the record for lowest album sales will be beaten this week again, Lewis is already doing better than Dua was this time last week and we know how he can be with pushing for #1 which will likely give him a bump later on in the week
Charli xcx and moby both selling bad with new album, hayley williams totally plummeting aswell. Hope Ava max can stay top 25, the video having an instant effect for Harry Styles

I would love to know everyone's expectations with Charli's new album given the number of posts saying she's flopping? It's comparable to the release of Number One Angel and Pop 2, not 'Charli'. Its a quarantine album (aka mixtape) put together in 6 weeks and it's a digital only release with no promo and no features or charting songs leading up to the album. Is everyone forgetting that Charli was actually promoted on TV and was an era in the making for months. The fact she's Top 20 in the midweeks is very good given the fact that none of her other mixtapes have even charted.

I don’t think they’ll be much in it but the fact they have done Amazon reductions and signed bundles will help.

Although the signed bundles must have sold a lot as they have put the vinyl on pre-order now for May 29th release.

Is Lewis Capaldi's Live EP not eligible for the albums chart?
These type of EP's are in a grey area for qualifying for the albums chart. There's enough tracks to qualify it as an album (more than 4 tracks which overrules the "25 minutes" singles / albums rule). Price wise, it depends on how much iTunes (and anywhere else it's available to download) pay for the EP (it has to be at least £3.76, I see it's £3.99 to buy). However if I've read the chart rules correctly it won't attract any streaming sales as 5 of the 6 tracks are on his album and streams of any of these 5 tracks will count towards the album and not the EP.
