October 18, 20214 yr wow very surprised at Coldplay, thought there was zero buzz and has got the worst reviews ever so was expecting something like 50-60K but not more... really surprised, thought they've produced their worst output ever by some margin but good for them if they still have fans but boo at SLY blocking Love in the Dark, Adele's label should contact the OCC pronto :D
October 18, 20214 yr 'Worst reviews ever' It has a score of 57 on Metacritic, that's not much below the reviews that they have always got at least this side of 2010 (it is marginally their lowest but before 'Everyday Life' which gave them a slight reprieve with a score of 73, their last three albums and the 'Kaleidoscope' EP all scored in the low to mid 60s). What is the need for the massive hyperbole, can you not just say it has had bad / average reviews?
October 18, 20214 yr Here's some fun info - Adele domination in a chart where ACR and the 3 track rule doesn't exist. 1. Easy On Me 11. When We Were Young 13. Someone Like You 19. Love in the Dark 21. Rolling in the Deep 24. Send My Love (To Your New Lover) 26. Make You Feel My Love 29. Hello 31. Chasing Pavements 32. Set Fire to the Rain 44. All I Ask 45. Water Under the Bridge 60. Rumour Has It 66. Hometown Glory 70. Skyfall 78. Turning Tables
October 18, 20214 yr Easy On Me already 100k with everything else missing is a good indication she'll clear 200k hopefully :cheer:

October 18, 20214 yr If Adele keeps pulling over 1 million streams a day this week, I can see her hitting 200k
October 18, 20214 yr Ideal scenario: Love In The Dark gets a reset which in turn moves Doja Cat back to #14 for a 6th week. When was the last time the #1 single and album both cleared 100k?

Just admit you got it wrong!
October 18, 20214 yr If Adele keeps pulling over 1 million streams a day this week, I can see her hitting 200k Will she though? I'd imagine a comeback Adele song would've drawn a lot of streams the first day, myself included. But does this song have the repeat potential that the casual Adele fan such as myself would stream it again through the week?
October 18, 20214 yr Looks like Coldplay could be the first album this year to top 100k paid-for sales in a week
October 18, 20214 yr It's done well over 1 million on both its second and third days so I imagine there is a good chance it stays over that mark for most if not all of the week.
October 18, 20214 yr Wow didn’t see 80k first mids figure for Coldplay I felt it got lost in the Ed/Abba/Adele hype and felt it would do 50k at most but glad to see that’s proved wrong spectacularly in these figures, could well get to 120k by Friday! Adele should be near 200k as well, what a great week!
October 18, 20214 yr Ok who is buying the Coldplay album lmao those numbers are insane for them and probably more than they will do in the US for whole week.
October 18, 20214 yr The Coldplay numbers are only good compared to their last album tbh. They'd still be disappointing by their standard prior to that. 'A Head Full Of Dreams' did 235k first week, and even 'Ghost Stories' which is notably less commercial than their other recent albums (this can also apply to 'Everyday Life' tbf) did 168k.

October 18, 20214 yr I get that Coldplay might not be the music of choice for a lot of the people of this forum. But seriously, they’ve been a long-time popular, high-selling, highly attended band.. the numbers are higher than I expected .. but no way is it that much of a stretch or surprise and the singles feel like they have been much better received than when compared with the previous era. There absolutely was buzz, and it’s been there all year. The music is still good imo, the reviews are not terrible .. and they’re bossing it this week Edited October 18, 20214 yr by .MIKE.
October 18, 20214 yr That's great for Coldplay! I was expecting lower but merely because of Everyday Life's performance and the average reviews and Adele eclipsing all other new music this week, I suppose this sound is much more commercial and they've had a few hits so it's not too surprising. I confess I've not got a huge desire to listen to it based on what I've heard so far oops, but if it keeps them making the music they love, I'm here for it.
