December 6, 20214 yr Anyone know or have any ideas why Leona’s One More Sleep is underperforming this year? :( It is very far down the biggest Spotify playlist + Leona is promoting a different Christmas song this year (Spotify is most likely the biggest factor though). Doing very well on Apple but clearly those streams don’t make a massive difference this time of year.
December 6, 20214 yr I hope LadBaby get Xmas #1 so they can have the longest consecutive streak of Xmas #1s
December 6, 20214 yr I hope LadBaby get Xmas #1 so they can have the longest consecutive streak of Xmas #1s I’m really intrigued by this. Why is having 4 number ones that are one week wonders a good thing?
December 6, 20214 yr I hope LadBaby get Xmas #1 so they can have the longest consecutive streak of Xmas #1s Of course you do
December 6, 20214 yr Ed & Elton, Ed & Elton, LadBaby, Wham! currently looking the most likely #1 progression. Pretty much anything would be preferable to LadBaby again (nothing against them personally). If they can do it surely someone else can come up with something the public would get behind.
December 6, 20214 yr Does Mariah have any chance of getting the Christmas number 1 if Ladbaby doesn't release. Will acr stop it
December 6, 20214 yr LadBaby are releasing so it's a moot question. But it looks like she'll probably be behind Wham! in the Christmas week anyway at this rate, not to mention Ed/Elton if they hold up well. It's the week after the Christmas chart which is the best chance again because of it having Xmas Eve/Day counted but again it's more likely to be Wham! as it was last year anyway.
December 6, 20214 yr I wonder if George Ezra has an outside chance at Xmas #1 if Alexa decides so, like with River, or at least the week after Xmas the Ezra song seems to be doing pretty well on Amazon right now, much better than Jess or Bieber if I remember it well
December 6, 20214 yr Surely the OCC need to actually start looking at all the data Amazon give them? this is ridiculous.
December 6, 20214 yr Yeah that’s certainly possible. Jess & Justin weren’t that far off Wham! in the post Christmas chart last year - Wham! did 40k and they were on about 34 and 32k. Wham! should do more like 60k this time as Christmas Eve is in the tracking week but that will also lift the Amazon songs. It seems the Ezra one is going down quite well so I think that has a good chance actually.
December 6, 20214 yr Bieber and Jess were #21 and #28 on the equivalent week last year compared to George currently being #36 so I doubt it. Ellie was #14 in the same week the year before that. I think Amazon's exclusive songs power is becoming more diluted as there seem to be more songs being pushed each year.
December 6, 20214 yr I hope LadBaby get Xmas #1 so they can have the longest consecutive streak of Xmas #1s Wonder if we’ll get 1-out this year if they do make it following their previous form? 2018: 1-21-84 2019: 1-57 2020: 1-78 I’m not against LB getting the #1 but the joke is long over now - it’s not as if any of them have/will become classics that people return to each year.
December 6, 20214 yr Is Last Christmas overtaking All I Want For Christmas Is You as the main Christmas classic in the UK? Edited December 6, 20214 yr by daniellovesmusic
December 6, 20214 yr is last christmas more popular than all i want for xmas due to an itv add which also featured what now
December 6, 20214 yr Surely the OCC need to actually start looking at all the data Amazon give them? this is ridiculous. I don't know if some of you might remember, but a few years ago Tidal ended up being caught faking their streaming figures, and Billboard removed them from their charts. (I've just had a quick look in the Internet to find out more exact details but it seems to have been largely brushed under the carpet somehow but I'm 99% sure this happened, I can't have imagined it).
December 6, 20214 yr I don't think gigantic megacorporation Amazon (for whom their music streaming service is like 0.1% priority) have quite the same incentive to puff up their numbers as Tidal tbf x
December 6, 20214 yr I don't think gigantic megacorporation Amazon (for whom their music streaming service is like 0.1% priority) have quite the same incentive to puff up their numbers as Tidal tbf x That's true. And also if they actually were they would be more likely to get away with it as well because you can pay people money to keep secrets. Also, the Amazon numbers don't seem as ridiculously unrealistic as the Tidal ones did. Kanye West's album getting 300 million streams on release week on a streaming service nobody used was laughable. The Amazon numbers are at least feasibly possible to the point where I don't feel convinced they're fake.
December 6, 20214 yr With Amazon it sounds like they’re fairly poor at maintaining their own charts. I can believe that the numbers they report are right but the charts are a bit of a mess.
