Catching up on this so far, interesting to read the thoughts when some of the songs here are discoveries.

A few of what I'd rank in my top 10 have appeared so far. I don't disagree with some of the comments about Party Rock Anthem, but it became big as I was close to finishing uni, and definitely has a nostalgia hit it wouldn't have had if released a year or two after, think it'd be a definite top 5 for me.

Also enjoy The Wanted (comfortably my favourite of theirs), Wretch 32 (to a point, preferred his other couple of big hits but good) and Example (though preferred his 2011 output) - all top half and top 10 contenders for me.

Most of the songs I'd rank towards the bottom have appeared, Swagger Jagger would comfortably be my #31 and a contender for bottom position in all years.

I remember Cher standing out among the other identikit ‘Factor’ alumni, but I couldn’t recall Swagger Jagger before listening again, which is never a good sign. The verse is actually good though and has a certain energy, but the chorus is awful, so maybe 19th will be about right for me too. I’ll wait to see what else is to come.

Swagger Jagger was absolutely dreadful. I wasn’t a big Cher Lloyd fan when she was on the show but this song turned her into a novelty act.

The military wives wherever you go , it did what it needed to but otherwise its just like every other charity single and not great

Party Rock anthem is still a bop, yes it hasn't aged very well but its still a bop and still gets the reactions intended 15 years later

I actually really enjoy Swagger Jagger , was it the right lead single probably not she definitely went on to have so much better , ( my person favourite being None of my business) but its a fun bop that worked for Cher Lloyd and I still go back to it occasionally

Swagger Jagger is terrible but in quite a way it's difficult to not admire it, it's quite unfathomable as a concept yet it's just so audacious and bizarre that I can't dislike it. She was a total one trick pony, but she was an entertaining X Factor contestant on a huge year for the show and her debut was a song suitable of her divisive style on the show.

Party Rock Anthem is an absolute time capsule and I think the ultimate example of that dance-pop banger sound that was popular in the mid to late download era, it doesn't hold up great, but it's classic brainless fun.

Cher may have been the X Factor act I've been referring to lol I remember her being marketed as very cool and current on the show, although some of that hasn't aged well, like the version of 'Viva La Vida' she did with the "bells ring-a-dinging" rap - how was that being eaten up at the time💀but she had her moments, like the haunting version of 'Stay' by Shakespear's Sister. Fast forward to the debut single and both "swag" and "jagger" feel very of the time. Cher's aforementioned audition was a cover of 'Turn My Swag On' so the 'swagger' word made sense for her personally. It was amusing that Mick Jagger was having such a resurgence in pop culture at the time though - with the mention in Ke$ha's 'Tik Tok', obviously 'Moves Like Jagger', 'Swagger Jagger'... to the point where he ended up featuring on that top 3 hit 'T.H.E. (The Hardest Ever)' with will.i.am and Jennifer Lopez *_* sure why not. I remember enjoying the production of 'Swagger Jagger' at the time but the lyrics are pretty cringeworthy. I can't help but ironically stan the tweeting and YouTube-ing lines specifically though.

I was pretty sure this was the one you were referring to. 😄

I think there's only 3 X Factor songs left now.

18 – All About Tonight – Pixie Lott

1 Week at #1 / Weekly Sales – 88,893

#59 in EOY 2011 – Total Sales of 325,500

Up next in the countdown we move on to an artist who is no stranger when it comes to notching up #1 hits. All About Tonight reached #1 in September and was Pixie Lott’s third #1 single and her first top ten single since Boys and Girls reached #1 back in September 2009. Between her second and third #1’s Pixie Lott had 4 more top 20 hits across late 2009 and late 2010 with Cry Me Out (#12), Gravity (#20), Turn It Up (#11) and Broken Arrow (#12), so it was nice to see that an artist that I’d loved throughout 2009 and 2010 had managed to achieve another #1 hit. Elsewhere in the charts that week we had a #3 debut for the new single from The Saturdays with All Fired Up and a #4 debut for what was meant to be the lead single from Leona Lewis’s third album with Collide which featured Avicii. All About Tonight marked a slight change in direction for Pixie Lott. The first releases from her debut album were a bit more of the pop/soul sound, which had been made popular by the likes of Amy Winehouse, Adele, Duffy and Gabriella Cilmi over the past three to five years, but All About Tonight signalled a move into the more pop/dance style of music. Only time would tell if that would provide more hits down the line.

Speaking of Adele this was the week that her gigantic album passed 3 million in sales on the UK Albums Chart in just its 33rd week on the chart. In that time it had spent 18 weeks at #1, 13 weeks at #2 and one week each at #3 and #4. Quite the achievement.

I was a huge fan of All About Tonight at the time but for me now I feel that it hasn’t really aged well, which you could probably say about a few of 2011’s #1s.

I'm a little surprised that's out that low for you tbh. It's fun but I prefer several Pixie songs over it. Her songs haven't aged too greatly tbh as they are very of the time.

I absolutely loved Pixie Lott at the time and I listened to her debut album a lot for a good 2-4 years. I liked her second album at the time but I never really went back to it and it's only fallen more out of favour over time for me sadly. If I did this rank in 2012 then it'd probably be top 10, but I think my tastes have changed slightly over the last 15 years.

I really enjoy 'All About Tonight', it's definitely a bop. The only thing off-putting about it is the production... It sounds very cheap (even for a club banger era song).

If you compare it to the Xenomania produced 'All Fired Up' which was #3 that week (and sounds very complete), Pixie's backing track sounds like it was a demo played on a fisher price keyboard 🤣 (I do enjoy the song, but that backing track falls a bit flat)

Pixie is like a female JLS conundrum. Riding high by copying whatever the in sound was at the time to grab a hit.

Her first album was really great pop, one of my favourites, and while it aped that soul pop vibe, a lot of the album tracks and later singles were more pure pop, but I didn't care much for the second album. I'd probably rank this track in about the same area, quite fun and nice to see her get another No.1, but did feel a bit like a box ticking exercise to get another hit, and it does sound dated indeed now. Kudos to her for serving a brave follow-up in What Do You Take Me For? though, which didn't sound like it was chasing trends.

Looking at that release week, All Fired Up is by far the better pop song for me.

Swagger Jagger, only half recall that one, playing it now. Never a fan of Cher lloyd though, and it's a bit of a mess, that annoying back drop vuvu-thing sound and the nicking of O My darling Clementine for the chorus hook do nothing to endear me now. Peaked at 64 for me, I feel that was generous enough for the overall fun vibe.

Pixie Lott I also have no real memory of, other than I generally liked her. Ah yes, coming back to me now, very much a Taio Cruz vibe to it, and for some reason I must have been getting fed up with the sound about then as it only peaked at 73 in my chart, where she'd had top 10's before. It sounds much better than Cher Lloyd and some others on the list so I think I have done her a wrong there!

I actually prefer What Do You Take Me For? That along with one or two album tracks are the ones I go back to from this album.

Overall, there is not one song from Pixie I really love. Everything from her sounds so mid. I guess in my rating this would be even lower.

I always felt very ambivalent towards Pixie Lott. She’s very beige.

I can’t say I’m a fan of Pixie’s number ones, they weren’t very memorable or inspiring. Mid list seems about right.
