The Official Charts Company Midweek Sales Flash is in, and we could be in for a brand new No.1 in the singles chart.

We Don’t Talk About Bruno, from Disney’s animated blockbuster Encanto, is poised to rise to a brand new peak this week and is currently in top spot with 29,118 sales. Gayle’s Abcdefu, which topped the chart last week, is in second place with 26,055 sales, with Adele’s Easy On Me (22,623 sales) at No.3.

Brief update from music week until another mod can post the full article, Bruno definitely looking like it’s got it in the bag…

Gayle’s sales are actually slightly up from the 25.1k in last Wednesday’s mids. Bruno should be coming for 45k or so then; still quite low but beginning to climb back up from the post Christmas slump.

good for Bruno and Wombats! Both look safe for #1 now

can't believe poor FKA Twigs is only #39 and probably will miss the top 40 in albums :/

Relevant to the recent 'albums vs. mixtapes' thread, the FKA twigs project is just a mixtape so I think it's doing decently enough to even be in the midweek top 40 after her previous album charted at #21. (Although I am still a little surprised that her albums, especially that last one, haven't done better - I guess her music isn't exactly super mainstream but I feel like she inhabits a similar lane in the industry to someone like James Blake who has at least gone top 10 with most of his albums). Looks like it is digital only at the moment as well (I see a CD release scheduled to ship in March).
I wonder if Years and Years can get to no 1 in the album chart next week.
The Wombats album (on CD) is now £5 on Amazon.
That’s a comfortable margin for WDTABruno. Fingers crossed Thursday’s stream estimates don’t blast Gayle ahead at the last minute.

Highly doubt they will, Bruno has extended it’s lead from 1.2k on Monday to 3k today, so Thursday’s estimates will just be a similar pattern, they aren’t gonna blast Gayle ahead for no reason (as much as I wish they would).

I loved the Bruno song in the movie & I really hope it doesnt get played to death!
But one week number 1's are a LOT less common now, look at last year for example from the 3rd week of January until the 4th week of October, no song was number 1 for less than 2 weeks. It's nice to have a little variety right now because we won't get it happen for the rest of the year.

Plus the song is DELIGHTFUL

I agree it’s nice to have a little quicker turnover, especially given most songs get default 4-5 weeks and longer from the bigger hits. I just prefer a song to have a nice decent stint, a fortnight imho is a nice relative quick turnover. Bruno will be a nice change though from some of the utter garbage we’ve had at no1 over the last 12 months.

Yeah totally agree with that end part, whilst I enjoyed the film/song, I never once sat there for a second and even acknowledged the possibility of this getting even close to number 1, there is no number in the past year, if not longer, that has been a shock! It’s so nice to have a song totally out of the blue appear at the top.

The only song i’ve been shocked by was Wellerman and even then, once I understood the power of TIKTOK a bit more, that was understandable.

So yeah, it’s nice that we are having this unexpected conversation around a Disney film scoring a number 1.

Hope yard act get top 10 next week albums

Don’t think Sherlock get top 10 Kiefer Sutherland and Miles Kane - Change The Show Not sure there end up
