So no Cruel Summer on Radio 1, weird decision. She’s gonna be top 5 next week and still they choose to ignore it. Vampire went straight to A list as predictable it was.

Radio 1 heads to Ibiza next weekend for its annual Dance Weekend. It'll be dance bangers all weekend as the usual playlist gets an overhaul, plus live performances and DJ sets from the following:

I’ve never heard the song before but it sounded like a banger. Funny how Charlie realised pretty quickly she should turn the sound down lol. Surprised she said ‘show some respect’ though. I imagine she gave her a piece of her mind afterwards. Arielle was out of order but she did sound out of it not that that’s an excuse!
Oh my, I have listened to a lot on Radiofail but that is certainly up there with the worst fails on radio! :o
Don't think there's anything wrong with expressing her opinion on the song but she does sound pretty obviously drunk which isn't a great look.
She was clearly very drunk and I don’t think she was actually scheduled to appear. It was a spontaneous appearance. In my opinion, the blame lies with whoever decided it would be good to put her on air in that state
They are likely quite clicky so can’t imagine there was many who would have stepped in to stop here in Ibiza, but her shouting when the mic was removed 🤣

In all seriousness though, BBC radio presenters are supposed to have a 'level' of impartiality and if I recall correctly they're not allowed to say that they hate music live on air so that coupled with her being obviously drunk probably meant a suspension for the week.

Surely suspension and investigation is a bit of an overreaction. She was drunk in Ibiza, not working, put on air and said she didn’t like a song. I’m not sure I really see what she did that was so bad.

 

Radio 1 DJs have given their opinions about songs since its inception. I really think people are pushing this ‘impartiality’ thing too far these days to the point where the DJs all have the same nauseating personality.

I don't think it has anything to do with the impartiality rules, I think they're allowed to praise songs they like but not complain about ones that they don't.

She has also failed to turn up on time for her 4am start several times lately. Won't get a new contract.
