We arrived in the world when Kylie scored her first UK #1, and now she might be about to have her 8th, 37 years later bratcheeseblock

I Should Be So Lucky was one of the first few #1s I ever remember, it's absolutely extraordinary she's still relevant after all this time.

I was fecking FIVE then!

Might see if I can stretch to another MP3.

  • The last time the FCP thread got more than 22 pages was June 2023... probably not a coincidence that a certain song with 'Padam' in the title twice was fighting for a top ten place that week

I suppose technically you could ask similar questions about any song, are people buying Kylie because they like it or are they just sick of wham being number 1?

The others were there last night but didn't show up when I searched. There was some roundabout way of bringing them up but unfortunately I have no idea what it was!

I’m terms of streaming, you can go to Kylie’s page and look under releases. But I struggle with the downloads.

There are fans yes but it doesn't make my question invalid like take 2009 , Rage against the machine was a campaign because the public were sick of The X Factor

I imagine a combination of all of them depending on the person? I bought the song to support the cause, but I'm actively listening to it on Spotify because I like the song.

I wasn't so keen on the song initially tbh but I've grown to really like it, it's so damn catchy! Definitely going to be going on my Christmas playlist once it is added to spotify.

I certainly wasn’t dismissing your question as I ‘liked’ it. Just saying that a lot of Kylie’s downloads are down to diehard fans like me. I love the song - but there are a few who are downloading it even if they don’t love it. But I have no need to download it. I do so because I want it to be successful.

The same can be said for Wham! fans (also like me). And Mariah. And anyone who wants success for their favourite artist.

He is taking the mick 😂 I love him for the troll he is. 😍

Just listened to Lullaby. It’s not a bad song but it’s not for me and I’d never choose to listen to it again. But I respect the fact that some do like it.

It’s not the kind of song that would be a hit on its own merits. In my opinion XMAS deserves to be a hit - but likewise, others might think it’s crap.

That's mostly my point it's not a song for me but people do actually enjoy it and some people are being overly harsh on it, and this is the FCP thread after all people will like alternatives to Kylie (again not her strongest I'd rather it was Hot in December being pushed)

I doubt even 20% are actively listening to it let's be honest.

I must be one of the 20% then as I listened to it in the way home tonight!

Maybe book a hearing test in early next year...😉

I know some people who prefer Wham! to Kylie but they’re supporting the latter as they’re sick of the former getting Christmas number 1 every year
