Have just done a first listen of semi 1 and, for my contrarian money, I don't think the quality gap between the semis is that crazy. Semi 2 is definitely better don't get me wrong but I think my top 5 of each semi are fairly comparable in quality and I still had ~13 songs that felt vote-worthy from first impressions in semi 1 compared to ~15 in semi 2, though with potential for more songs to grow in both semis. I'll try and do my semi 2 relisten and send my votes later tonight if I feel up for listening to music for 2 more hours after the 80s top 40s session.

I think semi 1 is decent, it has it's highlights and nearly the same amount of songs I'd be happy to vote for as in semi 2. The difference is that for me, semi 2 has double the amount of songs in the 'must vote for' category and way less in the 'maybe' pile. (But I expect to lose half of my votes in semi 2, so most likely in the final the 2 semis will be quite balanced.)

To be fair, your song will be just fine, there are just enough voters in the semi who would vote for your song + you have the 'silent crowd' in semi 1 with the more unpredictable votes. On the other hand, the votes of the semi 2 crowd can be predicted more or less, that's the problem :D

I’m doing my second listen of Semi 2 in this absolutely shitty, rainy weather outside, and suddenly the songs I thought I loved during my first listen in the sunshine aren’t hitting quite the same way anymore!!!

Turns out the weather might be playing a bigger part in my taste than I’d like to admit!!!

Absolutely on the semi 2 bloodbath train here - have 16 tracks that I really want to vote for and have 3 truly excellent ones vying for my 12.

I didn't mind listening through but I actually only had two songs in my 'yes' pile which is surely the least I've ever had The 'maybe' pile had loads but in the end I'm still happy enough with my votes, they're just not amazing.
